Armed Guards Surround USPS Sparking Midterm Election Anxiety and Suspicion
Concerns are mounting as the United States Postal Service (USPS) implements a significant increase in armed security at postal facilities just weeks ahead of the critical midterm elections. Nearly 1,000 armed security officers have been deployed across at least 55 facilities nationwide, raising alarms among USPS employees and political observers alike. The armed security personnel, contracted through Prosegur, a multinational security firm with a controversial history that includes allegations of human rights abuses, will serve as guards in major postal facilities stretching from Atlanta to San Diego.
