"Sing, goddess, the anger of Peleus' son Achilleus / and its devastation, which put pains thousandfold upon the Achaians..." There's a lot of interest in “The Odyssey” because of the movie, but I am going back to "The Iliad," where Homer's epic started.

A dangerous sign for me, outside a small bookstore at the Dallas Farmers Market. I almost walked away with a nicely bound edition of “Moby Dick,” even though I already have it.

Last Saturday, I was going on my first reporting outing since pre-pandemic 2019. I had to dig through my belongings to find an unused reporter's notepad. I couldn't find my trusty digital audio recorder, but wait, the phone could do that much better now. ⬇️

I am conflicted. The sign by this quaint little shop in Babylon, N.Y., says "Traveller's Rest," but the Olivetti typewriter says to my brain, "Sit down and write! Now!"
Several items are set on a display outside the storefront of a shop selling vintage stuff, including a sign, some books, nutcracker figures and a typewriter.

Read the initial chapters of this compelling series online, and returned to it in today's paper | India’s struggle to raise millions into the middle class hinges partly on whether young women can delay marriage or buck tradition, working outside the home. @nytimes.com www.nytimes.com/2023/10/21/w...

Ah. Must document that moment when I took the wrong train and ended up realizing it at a somewhat picturesque station in Queens. What is that I hear? Bachata music? At least that's familiar.
