He remembered the panic in Osamu's eyes when they both smelled sulfur, the way doors of the abandoned shed they had been cornered into rattled against its hinges, the sound of growling that had every hair on his body standing.

Most of all, Atsumu remembered the way Osamu screamed his name as he helplessly watched the hellhounds rip him to shreds.

"Nah," he said. "Remember dyin'. That's about it." Kita and Aran shared a inscrutable look. "Where's Samu?"

Aran scoffed, shaking his head. "Wish we knew. He answers calls every so often, but fer the most part, he's been real… distant, ya know. Since."

Atsumu frowned. Osamu had always been harder to reach, but if there were two people in the world he actually kept close, it was the two men sitting across the table from him. He wasn't happy to hear his brother hadn't kept them close during his absence. "When's the last time ya saw him?"

Kita's sigh told Atsumu he wouldn't like the answer. "When we buried ya."

He realized, suddenly, he had no idea how long he'd been dead for. "When was that?"

"Little over a year ago," Aran answered solemnly.

All at once, the emotions that had been precariously stacked behind a wall came crashing into him, making him dizzy. A year meant Osamu had been forced through all four seasons without his twin. Meant he'd turned twenty-seven by himself. Hadn't even visited his grave. Atsumu's eyes welled with tears. He hid his face in the crook of his elbow where it was braced on the table, consumed by second-hand grief.

He wasn't supposed to be gone that long. He should have found a way back, a way out.
