I've been taking back control of my own data and devices lately. I rooted my Quest Pro, I built an Immich server, and tested out LineageOS on old phones. I want to keep being intentional about my use of things. The only way we can fight back against billionaires is to stop using their shit.

"The usual currents had failed him overnight and put him on the beach instead of carrying him in circles in the lee of his island like they normally did. Groggy and annoyed, he'd crawled up to the high tide line with the sea's help and fallen asleep again to continue digesting the whale he'd consumed.

And digest it had, gurgling, churning, producing vapor that fizzled and floated to the top of his swelling upturned stomach while his guts and gullet lay submerged and sealed beneath the mass of chyme. When he woke again, it was from discomfort and annoyance; he'd overeaten, sure, but he wasn't nearly this full when he'd sunk into a blissful food coma yesterday evening.

A good belch would set things right, but laying upside down, he couldn't. He squirmed to roll himself upright, but found he couldn't do that either - he was so heavy, and he'd shifted enough overnight at high tide, that he'd sunk himself into a sandy nest that cradled him, supported him, and trapped him. He couldn't get enough leverage to move.

So he lay there and waited for the sensations to pass. They didn't. With the sun mercilessly heating his guts, he swelled even more. More than that, he could feel the pressure in his belly growing. Fuller, tighter, his hide was having to fight to restrain his insides by noon, and now he was truly testing his limits as the immense latent heat he'd absorbed continued to radiate through his volatile digestive tract, even as the sun was on its way down.

He could feel pinching in his hide as tiny sinews surrendered and snapped, giving him just a little more ability to stretch, which was then immediately filled by more dissolved gas escaping into his tightly-sealed guts. He was sure he'd be fine in the end - pretty sure - but if something else didn't change soon, his sense of security might..."
