Dev Collective. I'd like to find a place where serious devs work semi-together on side-projects. They use the same AI Agents, MCPs, and similar tech stacks. A sort of loose-company, semi-formal, passion-driven, pre-incubator thing. Anyone interested in finding out how this can look like?

Apparently someone decided that scanning your own book is legal and fair-use from a copyright standpoint. As long as you rip the physical copy. As for the scanning process, ripping the pages to Scan requires a much cheaper machine than preserving the full book.

That's fair I guess. But if we're talking about rare old books, then presumably they entered the public domain (or should). Perhaps in the larger conversation on cultural preservation, a public archive would have such universal value. Shouldn't it be protected and demanded by law?

I take this back, I clearly didn't read. While what I stated was somewhat true (in a reductionist fashion), it goes further. The models under test found and exploited a series of vulnerabilities that led to them running code on a remote system. Which is very bad indeed. openai.com/index/huggin...

LM Studio just launched #Bionic - a new coding agent UI for open models. It's a perfect fit - I managed to get Qwen 3.6 local to fix my pocketbase migrations and get docker compose to work. I tried this with Zed and opencode and always ended up in loops. Big step forward. #openmodels #llm rule!

This reads more panicky than it actually is. They basically programmed the model to access a website, but blocked access to the internet via a software firewall. The model exploited a security vulnerability on its host machine to break the firewall. This is not Sci Fi, just good publicity.

AI would not have been possible otherwise. The whole theory was that it would need massive amounts of text data in order to learn to "think" in language, and novels are great at language. And we think in words, so this is absolutely required for it to work. So where's your money?
