The Black Phone: A neat abduction horror that highlights the stress of feeling eacape being fruitless. The antagonist is both threatening and genuinely bizarre with being so evil but wallowing in their own insecurity. The supernatural element is used sparingly, but it culminates to an awesome finale

The Wedding Singer: Sandler films are always such a mixed bag, but compared to his raunchiest and most offensive outings, this one has a good bit of heart to it. The main pairing is cute it's very easy to root against the obviously douchey antagonist. Sandler's song at the very end is just sweet.

Pride and Prejudice: Not the usual movie that I would find myself watching, but doing so alongside the fiancee was very cozy. Watching the union of an unlikely duo is both fun but agonizing, knowing that the only thing getting in the way of these two is just effectively communicating their truths.

The Many Adventures of Winnie the Pooh: Cute compilation movie of Pooh and Tigger adventures. It was very bizarre not seeing Sora anywhere here, though. Weird that they decided to replace him with some random called Christopher Robin.

Wake Up Dead Man: An awesome murder mystery where even if the true culprit felt pretty apparent out the gate, it puts a lot of stake onto the heart of the crime, alongside an extremely fleshed out and endearing Watson character that makes getting the entire picture very satisfying and heartfelt.

Kingdom Hearts: While I found myself having a rough time at points, I very much became more fond of it the further I got along. The combat has a satisfying depth and learning curve to it, and it was a nice nostalgia trip to go back and revisit some of these franchises after so long.

Kim's Convenience: A comedy that is painfully afraid with challenging any of its characters. Any developments are flopped face first by the end of an episode or are gradually rolled back to what the show is comfortable with. It's got some great jokes, but the cast is thoroughly dissatisfying.

Mirai Sentai Timeranger: A shockingly mature sentai series. It really highlights Kobayashi's ability to respect their audience's ability to take in heavy themes without having to spell everything out for them. The rangers are all so fleshed out and likeable that makes saying goodbye bittersweet.

The Monkey: Funny. The writers for this one definitely took an acid trip in order to flesh out a Stephen King short story into a feature length film about people dying in ridiculous ways. I don't think I took away too much from it, but it is stupid funny.

Peacemaker (Season 2): It started off strong, but I became massively deflated with this season's second half. Gunn just isn't suited for television runtime on account of how much this season felt like meandering. No other characters shine like Chris and Harcourt, and that is very unfortunate.

Kronk's New Groove: A cinematic masterpiece with a an emotional deep dive into the effects of generational trauma and the need to always be greater than what you are. No other Disney film would dare to be as bold as having Kronk have sex through the visual metaphor of baking bread.

A Better Life: A sad movie about a dad, his son, and their truck. I do think it kind of falls victim to the disillusionment of what the American Dream actually is for immigrant families, but it does provide a genuine relationship between its two main characters for an emotional journey.

John Wick Chapter 4: Peak action cinema. The sets, the lighting, the soundtrack, and the choreography are all off the charts. Maybe there is something to be said about the length of the film, but it feels like it perfectly justifies itself each time to have more amazing setpieces.

I guess it can vary, but I do like long individual levels that build upon themselves rather than concepts being fleshed out among a series of levels. That's lot of the reason why Tropical Freeze stands out the way it does. Mechanics to let you build momentum are also super cool.

Saving Face (2004): Jiji and I were looking for a romance that hits close to us, and while we didn't share in the main couple's dynamic, this was a wonderful little film. A movie where cultural gendered expectations takes the antagonist role, affecting both the older and younger generations.

John Wick Chapter 3: Parabellum: The complaints I've heard with this movie's focus on worldbuilding feels massively exaggerated because I find the action and the establishment much more evenly distributed versus how frontloaded with the establishment the 2nd movie was. This one is also very funny.

The Long Walk: A harrowing movie with a dark spin of the message, 'keep moving forward.' It does such a great job of making all of the boys' lives feel fleeting and insignificant, making for a genuinely distressing theatre experience waiting for the next loud gunshot to go off and who it's aimed at.
