Before it served margaritas and red chile, this building was the Santa Fe terminus of the famous "Chili Line." 🚂🌶️ Operating from 1887–1941, the narrow-gauge railroad connected Santa Fe with Antonito, CO and earned its nickname by hauling chile and ristras. Then 📸: 1941 (Denver Public Library)

Before the Basilica, this site was home to La Parroquia, an adobe parish built in 1714. The original adobe chapel is all that remains and houses Our Lady La Conquistadora, brought from Spain in 1625 and the oldest representation of the Virgin Mary in the U.S. #TheCityDifferent #ThrowbackThursday

Santa Fe is a place where you can walk through some of the oldest living history in the country. The Palace of the Governors is exactly that, built in 1610. And the portal seen in the image is now the location of some of the finest Native American artisan wares you'll find in the city. 📸 circa 1865
