I’m in both and this is a landmark case which will define digital freedom for decades. Note this is a sequel to the original crypto wars from the 90s (as in cryptography) and the victories won by open source were ultimately fretted by everyone.

Definitely seems like it. Anti-bike measures may also serve as an unspoken proxy against certain categories of people. It also seems delivery apps get to ratchet up the financial pressure and let gig workers eat the legal risk.

There's definitely a lot of anti-bike hysteria going around and even the people salmoning don't deserve *criminal* summons. I am, however, concerned that bike advocates need to consider public sentiment more or a lot of micromobility gains in NYC might be actively reversed. PR matters.
