In a world where it's tough to know what is the right thing to do and what is the wrong thing to do, we all have the wisdom to discern between what we can do to prevent immorality, and what we cannot. #bevegan
Imagine there are 2 possible worlds:
World A: we exploit and slaughter animals for unnecessary stuff.
World B: we don't exploit and slaughter animals for unnecessary stuff.
Which world is more moral?

The obvious truth is that we MUST grant rights to animals. It's so obvious when we witness the abuse of dogs, and it should be much more obvious to us that we should grant rights to farmed animals - and stop exploiting and slaughtering them. www.mirror.co.uk/news/uk-news...
Dog cruelty on the rise since Covid pandemic as RSPCA gets 10 calls of abuse per hour.
In 2021, the RSPCA received 92,244 reports of dog cruelty – a 16% rise in one year. Victims include French Bulldog Bruce, who was found burnt in a bush near a park in Preston, Lancs

This is my argument for #veganism. If this doesn't seem right to you - let's discuss.
Why vegan
The vegan position comes from understanding the reasons for why it's immoral to exploit and kill sentient beings when it's *not necessary.

When we consider why it's not ok to exploit and kill humans, it is reduced to the following: humans are capable of experiencing the life around them and prefer to live, they can feel pain, fear, joy and other emotions that make us not want to experience the negative feelings.

Those experiences are part of what it means to be sentient. Humans and animals are different in many ways, but we have some things in common, including sentience. This means that for the same reasons it's immoral to exploit and kill humans in the context of lack of necessity, it's also immoral to exploit and kill animals in the same context.

The exploitation and killing of animals is not necessary in the 21st century, where we are used to the products that result from exploitation and slaughter of animals, but we have alternatives to all or most of those products. This means that it's immoral to exploit and slaughter animals in the 21st century.

*not necessary = when there are no strong overriding reasons, such as personal survival.

Adoption estimates are usually made before the product is available, in order to see if it will... get adopted, so that companies don't waste their time and resources on a dud. Adoption estimates for cultivated meat are unusually high - that's a good sign. www.purdue.edu/newsroom/202...

In India, due to religious sentiments, cows are treated (at least in the minds of people) as if they were their mothers. This is one of the reasons that India’s consumption of dairy has grown exponentially in the past 60 years. Because it’s good to drink mother’s milk. 2/13

So dark and white chicken meats are very similar in both cholesterol and saturated fat content, I'd say to a non-significant degree, but impossible nuggets are the lowest in both. It would be beneficial for your cholesterol levels to replace all chicken with air fried impossible nuggets tbh.

That's simply not true. Fried foods might contribute a little bit to raised cholesterol, but not nearly as much as foods that contain dietary cholesterol, like chicken that contains 88mg. Vegans have reduced levels of LDL. Mine is 69, no chance of heart disease. scholar.google.com/scholar?hl=e...

Wow. Wowowow. Plastic vegan leather for the win.
In contrast, rPVB leather has a lower environmental impact than animal leather. rPVB leather is made from recycled polyester, which reduces the need for new raw materials and energy. Additionally, the production process of rPVB leather generates less waste and uses less water compared to animal leather production. According to a study by the University of Milan, rPVB leather production generates 80% less greenhouse gas emissions and requires 70% less water compared to animal leather production. As such, rPVB leather presents a promising alternative for fashion companies looking to reduce their environmental footprint.

Damn, you almost look like a bootlicker at this point of me actually looking into this. 20% of global industrial water pollution! Wow, can you gesture a bit more about how great leather is as opposed to vegan leather?
The production of animal leather has significant environmental impacts, including pollution, hazardous waste, and high water and energy consumption. The tanning process, a critical step in leather production, involves using toxic chemicals such as chromium, which can cause pollution and health hazards. According to a report by the United Nations Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO), the leather industry is responsible for releasing 1.8 million tons of solid waste every year and over 20% of global industrial water pollution.

As opposed to THAT, mushroom leather is a staggering reduction in environmental damage
Reishi by Mycoworks is another mushroom leather. It is made by growing mycelium directly on cotton or other fabric backings, then finishing it with either a petroleum or plant-based coating. According to a peer-reviewed life cycle assessment that was published late last year, Reishi has less than 1% polymer (plastic) content, the lowest of the plant-PU hybrids.

The LCA suggests Reishi’s carbon footprint is 2.76kg per meter squared – just 8% of real leather’s average footprint, less than most alternative leathers, and on par with Pinatex. It also has a luxurious feel that is close to the real thing.

Maybe, or maybe it's synthetic latex. It's not my entire identity, you're just wrong, and pissy about it. But it made me look up pleathers, and oh some of the fake plastic vegan leather is actually recycled plastic. I'm still looking for its carbon footprint, but leather footprint is astonishing!
Carbon footprint
Estimates of the carbon footprint of bovine leather range from 65 to 150 kg of CO2 equivalent per square meter of production.[29]

Water footprint
One ton of hide or skin generally produces 20 to 80 m3 of waste water, including chromium levels of 100–400 mg/L, sulfide levels of 200–800 mg/L, high levels of fat and other solid wastes, and notable pathogen contamination. Producers often add pesticides to protect hides during transport. With solid wastes representing up to 70% of the wet weight of the original hides, the tanning process represents a considerable strain on water treatment installations.[30]
