My metagenomics group spends tens of TB storing BAM files. I made a CLI tool to strip unneeded data from BAM/SAM files. We see 90-98% lower file sizes, with identical downstream results. Get it at: github.com/jakobnissen/... #metagenomics #bioinformatics #rustlang
