Just a reminder that as of today, school board President Kim and Commissioner Gupta continue to endorse Manny Yekutiel. To her enormous credit, Vice President Huling rescinded her endorsement after Brad Chapin came forward.

Challenger Schools in California charge ~30k annually and the highest possible teacher salary is slightly over forty bucks an hour (starting pay is about thirty bucks an hour)

Nothing says "pro-union" like exclusively thanking the Supervisors who didn't walk a single picket (plus Mahmood, who walked two but couldn't get himself to support the strike)

FACT CHECK: We did not accept the existing offer. Idk Garry, your chat bot may have claimed to be a union leader but it's not

Kim-Mai driving thirty miles of detour every day so she doesn't have to pass any picket - all of which have more families than staff walking the line.

I regret to report that Garry now believes the voices in his head are "district sources"
Garry Tan is very mad that teachers have the temerity to expect to be paid a living wage

Can't decide if it's funnier that Garry thinks anyone will believe union leaders speak to him or that anyone in UESF can afford to strike for any reason other than securing the schools our students deserve
Garry Tan tweet insisting UESF is just striking and not getting paid for a few days because ?

SFUSD: Too broke to pay teachers but plenty of money for a contract with OpenAI. Cost is redacted, which I have never, ever seen in a contract submission before

You can tell the folks at SFParents have never lived paycheck to paycheck because they think teachers don't need theirs and want to strike for fun/because their state affiliate told them to

Scott's campaign was polling whether his ongoing refusal to call a genocide a genocide would hurt him and it appears we all said it would. Anyway, Scott's words will be backed by zero actions

Every billionaire is a moral and political failure and we should tax them into non-existence, but taxing them and excluding the proceeds from Prop 98 calculations is shitty. I'll still vote for it and against this monstrosity I got a message testing poll about

Sadly, Joe's geopolitical understanding has not further matured since second grade, when his very mean teacher made him stop playing with his GI Joe dolls in class. He knows she was a pinko because she didn't accept that he was a very special boy for whom rules did not apply

"Informally" is doing Atlas-likr work here, because there's documentary evidence this is false. Both the principals and the teachers are at impasse and the principals have been vocal about how disrespected they feel by Su in particular. SFParents has to know this.
Claim that the Supe is the most popular of the last three and needs a contract

Reminder that this is the entirety of the proof Edunomics has shared to justify its entirely made up claims about closing schools This is because they just made that number up to support their campaign against public education
Slide containing a list of items purported to be 4% of an average school district's budget, but zero information explaining Edunomics' "rule of thumb" that closing 1 in 15 schools saves 4% of a district's annual budget

Bilal has visited every private school in D5. D5 is home to the city's only public arts integration elementary, amazing language pathways programs, and SF's first community school but Bilal doesn't do public schools
It's Bilal helping break ground on a private school for the 1% because public schools, why

Unlike Thomas "Death to Pedestrians Democrat" Friedman, I live in a city with Waymos and it fucking sucks. I encourage him to walk one (1) mile in SF and let me know how it goes with Waymos
Thomas Friedman is a "Waymo Democrat", because he doesn't like public transit or walkable cities but he also doesn't want you calling him racist

Capitulating to fascists means they're going to use you to do fascism. Don't let these goons pretend they thought it would come out differently.

Of course, this breezy summary omits that white South Africans murdered people like Chris Hani and promised decades more of white supremacist violence if the ANC didn't give over on the economic justice part. It's very hard to create a prosperous nation when 10% of its people own everything.
Nytimes: Many South African voters, regardless of their race, agree that the African National Congress has created a country plagued by corruption, poor infrastructure, high crime and inequality, with persistent poverty among Black people. In the last election, the party lost its outright majority in Parliament for the first time since the end of apartheid.

Analysts note that the party went to great lengths to embrace market-oriented policies that allowed white South Africans to maintain their economic power. In fact, many South Africans criticize Mr. Mandela for not requiring a more aggressive redistribution of white-owned land to Black South Africans, whose families had been forced off of it during apartheid and colonial times.

At least part of the reason Vermeule claims you need to have studied a zillion years to have an opinion on the Constitution is that he wants you to believe you have no right or say on what constitutionality is: you need to leave that to the genius fascists using law to kill you

D5 is home to the district's only explicitly arts-focused elementary, which is in a building that's been home to district schools for 101 years, but the incoming D5 Supe chose this private school to visit. Cool.

Y'all, we know how SFUSD came up with the "closing schools saves $22m" bit. They took this year's site budget for each of the schools to be closed and added it up. Of course they're not going to admit that but let's face facts here.

Very funny to watch the people who couldn't wait to waste money on the school board and DA recalls insist that the recall dude should not get recalled because, uh, democracy Like 20% of SF voted in the school board recall, weird how they thought was cool

I think we should be clear that SFUSD proposes cutting 500 teachers and 6 central office management types. The district office is the biggest it's ever been even though the district is smaller. The priority here isn't students. It's management.
SFUSD planned budget reductions showing 348 teacher layoffs and 6 central office layoffs
