...and also banned independents and single-seat parties from vanuatu's parliament probably to cut down on the fact that the current parliament elected 18 parties and 1 independent, and 8 of those parties only had one member, so 9/52 seats were occupied by 9 different forces, quite the fragmentation

so basically there will be elections in vanuatu in less than a month (16th january) the first ones after the referendums this year which banned party-hopping (the act of changing from the party you were elected with, punishable by being forced to vacate the seat)
