Violet looked up at Kaidan, then noticed that his black armor and around his throat were stained with spirals that looked like acid burns. Acrid ink overpowered the usual armor oil and sweat. And his coal black hair now had a thick, silver stripe leading back into the bun. Getting a good look at his face, he seemed more tired, scruffy, and the bright corruption from Mehrunes Dagon that had shone in his eyes was being crushed by oily darkness. He was far stronger than her, but she could see his life slowly draining away as he took shaky steps and exhaled far more energy than he inhaled.

He wasn’t supposed to be here. His aligned plane was Destruction. Hermaeus Mora, despite his inscrutable actions, preserved, or even created (even though Daedra aren’t supposed to be able to). Remnants of other planes were like a grain of sand in Mora’s Eye. “Oh gods… you’re paying the price…”

He quickly looked away from her. “Don’t know which one you mean, but I would pay any price, darlin’. Now c’mon...”

“Hmm. It could certainly be worse, but to start, you could try these to soothe any soreness. And I’m sensing fatigue, even though it’s still early on the day.” Valen went to a cabinet and pulled a small bag of colorful lozenges down to give her.

“Overexertion,” she wrote. “Injuries from adventure work leave me tired more easily. I’m a healer myself and can manage it, but everyone started fretting because I spent too much at once and collapsed this morning.” There was a small pause. “…Too much excitement.”

Katsael would likely have lots of keys that they don't know what they unlock, batteries, and various mini tools like allen keys and eyeglass kits.

“See?! Hungry! Trying taking dragonfruits!” The little creature stomped and pointed at it.

Katsael at least got out, “I’m not a dragon—” before the ball of sparkles clamped its teeth around the ankle of their boot. Thankfully underneath the boot were hard scales, so they were both at an awkward stalemate. At least it didn’t make them drop their coconut drink.

Everyone became incredibly nervous as the Dragon’s words rattled around the room and dropped the temperature to freezing.

The soldier with the sword to his hostage’s throat suddenly found himself blind and screaming, as two coals from the brazier beside Violet flew out of the fire and replaced his eyes. He dropped the sword and clawed at his face with his hands trying to put out the spreading fire, and the man, not listening to Violet's instructions, thought to try defend himself from the Justicar if she decided to give chase.

It wasn't needed. Before she could even turn her attention away from her subordinate’s head burning clean off, the fully armored woman gasped as she was flipped over the balcony and slammed down head first onto the stone floor hard enough to crush her armor and everything inside it like a tin can.

They had no qualms about mouthing off to Krile. They still had not forgiven her and probably wouldn’t for a long time. “Believe it or not, you’re one of the few people left in Creation who still has the gall to nag me.”

“It’s unsanitary, Katsael!” she shook her head. “And you were supposed to meet Thancred and-”

“That was your cue to leave it.” The Au Ra growled through grit teeth. Their claws were flexing and twitching in time with their tail.

Krile simply clammed up, frowned, and went back to her office. Their aether and dynamis were still unstable months later, and Y'shtola’s eyes widened at the sudden tangled mass of colorful noise that was invisible to everyone else. She broke in to defuse them.

“THAT. HURT. YOU. MOTHER. FUCKING. SACK. OF. CAMEL. SHIT.” Violet screeched at Ancano. Each word was a wisp that made a dull ‘CRACK!’ across the Thalmor’s forehead to keep him stunned and clutching his forehead.

‘And she still has that mouth.’ Kaidan groaned, leaned against the wall, and tried not to draw attention to his snickering. His ribs jolted pain up his side with every little shake of air. ‘She’s still Starfall.’

Her roar brought several pieces of the ceiling down. “IIZ WULD!”

Before Ancano could recover and back away from her and the Eye of Magnus, Starfall was already in his face, and then he was hit by an avalanche and crushed. There wasn’t even any air or time to scream.

Shrieking in a den full of dragons seems like the worst idea, but you get a pass if you've saved them all from the endless cycle of violence.

Vidofnir lightly bowed her head in Katsael’s direction. “Would thou like to see her?”

Katsael had their hands over their mouth to contain their wild grinning and nodded quickly.

The large dragon seemed to smile, her chuckling ringing directly in Katsael’s head as she lifted her wing. Underneath and snuggled up against her side, was a tiny (by comparison), sleeping, blue dragonet.

“Baaaabyyyyy!” This, Katsael could not contain. The uncharacteristically high-pitched squeal was thankfully absorbed by the stone walls and floor, though every dragon in the room quickly raised their head in confusion, annoyance, or mirth.

“They are thirty-four of your mortal years,” Vidofnir said. “Freshly hatched.”

This is an incredibly upsetting thing the cleaning crew did when they last waxed the floor, but I don't want to spend the rest of the day trying to fix it, and the inevitable fallout of hearing from IT about my station suddenly alerting because I unplugged the other 10 devices connected to it.
