Me when a coworker makes a mistake at work: It happens, no worries at all! Me when *I* make a mistake at work: I'm the stupidest person to ever live and I deserve to be paraded through the streets and publicly shamed

To celebrate Disability Pride Month, here is an excerpt from @violetagarza.bsky.social "Bless This Inconvenient Body" from her poetry chapbook, Brava published in 2025 by First Matter Press. I adore this book and was lucky to get a copy when Violeta aided my April @geminiink.bsky.social workshop

A graphic photo of a bright blue and cloudy day in Texas overlooking a field of Bluebonnets. Transposed over this photo is a torn sheet of white notebook paper taped down with blue and black handwriting that says Bless This Inconvenient Body, The Earth's core slows to a tepid halt. From there, a whisper-we've belonged to each other this entire time. This entire time.

My bilingual (Spanish-English) poetry book BRAVA celebrates #NationalTypewriterDay with you. I bought my first #typewriter a decade ago— an Olivetti, not pictured here— for $12.50 on a Sunday in Portland. How very Portland lol. What do you remember about typewriter days? #retro #nostalgia #poetry

Hey, as a librarian I have to tell you You don't have to finish a book that doesn't interest you. Life's too short for that. Not your jam? You have my permission to move on to the next book.

Taps the sign

Car of "10 Lessons for Stronger Movements"
It shows a drawing of an otter holding a placard that says "Imperfect Allies Aren't Enemies"
The other 9 lessons are listed as:
"1. CRITIQUE TO BUILD, NOT TEAR DOWN
2. ORGANIZE, DON'T JUST ARGUE
3. MOVEMENTS WIN, NOT INDIVIDUALS
4. PERFECTION IS THE ENEMY OF PROGRESS
5. EGO KILLS MOVEMENTS
6. PLAN FOR THE LONG GAME
7. MEET PEOPLE WHERE THEY ARE
8. POWER DOESN'T CARE ABOUT FEELINGS
9. DIVISION IS A WEAPON USED BY ELITES, DON'T PLAY ALONG"

My book according to my #indiepress publisher First Matter Press: Brava is a bilingual gut-punch of a debut—fierce, funny, and full of heart. Violeta Garza speaks from the messy middle: too Mexican, too white, too tender, too loud. #poetry #poems #poet #poets #publishing #book #chapbook
