24 years ago today, this guy kicked off what was to become my obsession with raccoons

I saw it at the cinema on release day in Finland a few days ago, they had a morning screening in Finnish and an evening screening at 5pm in English with Swedish & Finnish subtitles

I also took a video of this incredible moment, and I'm happy I managed to capture what is practically a once in a lifetime experience. The excitement of the crowds and the applause when the eclipse hit totality really put a smile on my face. Nature can be very cool at times like this!

I took a very long 10 hour train journey to Spain to witness the solar eclipse in totality. My hands were shaking so much from excitement I struggled to get any clean photos on my phone of it, but actually witnessing it firsthand through my own eyes, my only words were "holy shit".

Have you heard? Myself and @freja will be hosting two demoscene events at @nordicfuzzcon.org this month!! Byte Jam: nfuzz.co/event/JGHHDY... (requires login) Demoscene Showcase: nfuzz.co/event/JGHHDY...

Byte Jam with Freja and Violet

Were you a fan of those music visualizers that used to be on PCs years ago, or did you see Violet and Freja's demoscene panel at NFC 2025 and left curious about what "livecoding" is? Do you want to learn more about a certain subcategory of the demoscene? Maybe you just want to hear a banging DJ set in a funny new context.

Freja and Violet are two hosts of the Field-FX bytejams that happen weekly online, and now they are back at NFC to teach all the furries what this really means. Audience participation is possible (contact me at "vurpo" on Discord or Telegram ahead of time if you want the details).

Violet & Freja's Demoscene Showcase

It's been a busy year for Violet & Freja, who has been spending a lot of time travelling across Europe whilst attending many creative computer events known as demoparties. After working on multiple of their own productions and taking notes on their favourites released throughout 2025 they are ready to return to NFC and host an extended show & tell about what the past year of the demoscene had to offer.

Violet & Freja are two demofurs (demoscene furries) who previously hosted a panel at NFC 2025 and EF 29 about how furries have been getting involved in the demoscene, and this year at NFC they will continue to share more new productions by furries and also the wider demoscene. They will also be hosting a Q&A between each of the demos, so everyone has a chance to ask about the scene, the demos and maybe also learn something new.

Looks like @doublefine.com is aware I read their newsletters

The Headlines

If this game sounds a little familiar, it's because Kiln was pitched all the way back at Amnesia Fortnight 2017 and selected as a finalist! You weren't imagining things. At least, you're not imagining Kiln being around for a while here at Double Fine. We do hope you're imagining other cool stuff, like elephants riding unicycles, or raccoons creating a secret, highly advanced civilization on that huge patch of garbage floating in the Pacific. Whatever floats your boat. Or, if you're a raccoon reading this, your trash patch utopia. You get the gist.
