I enjoy your book lists--I don't get to read as much as I want to, but you inspire me to make time, and I've found a few good recs from you as well!

I teach kindergarten at a public school where 80% of the students get free lunch. My students are so rad! The supply budget for my team (4 classrooms) was $500 for this year. We mostly bought crayons but I could use some other stuff. Share with your rich friends! www.amazon.com/hz/wishlist/...

I got into the Elendil/Miriel, but only because I really love both of the actors. But at the same time, I don't think it makes sense for the characters. It's fun to play around with and joke about, but I'm not ready to defend it with my life.

People can just be so rude, or even mean, about their opinions and I'm not here for that. One of the reasons I never really interacted with the LOTR fan community until TROP.

I got to go to SDCC this year and got into Hall H, which was amazing, but also sobering to see that the little fandom corner in my head is...basically only in my head. After being in line for hours with a group to get in, I ended up sitting by myself.

It does feel like a good chunk of the fandom I follow and sometimes interact with is obsessing over different aspects (ships, really) and characters than I am, which makes it feel like the community isn't what it once was.

But loyalty to the characters and the actors makes me protective of the show right now. I'm not happy with some choices but I couldn't get Númenor out of my heart if I wanted to.

Late to the party (as usual) but I'm finding myself almost avoiding any fan discussion about the season because everyone seems to hate it now and I'm like nooo, this is my show and I'm ride or die with it. I do have a distaste more and more for McPayne...

Relatable. My furry captain isn't too amused that other cats that aren't him live in our house.

Well I mean what kind of chemistry did she and Hagen even have? She never even stabbed him once.

Ok so I misread this as erasers at first and now I see it's not that but anyway the prismacolor magic rub is like the best one hands down. Like it was never even there.

I try to keep it fandom related around here but here's what's happening in my city.

In 1997 when I worked at Walmart gatekeeping the women's fitting room, I marveled at the dad that came up to me with his mortified daughter and calmly asked where they could find bras "for beginners." That guy is a hero.

Just a heads up to all you #niatowle stans that the IG account with her name isn't her. Also, she's probably dreaming of Númenor and that indoor plumbing.

Nia Towle looking out a window probably thinking about Númenor. From the verified IG account of Lucy Karczewski, one of Nia's co-stars in Stereophonic.

Another example: "Bathe the Cat." A family makes a list of chores with magnet letters on the fridge but the cat keeps pawing at them so they get mixed up. Hilarity and rhymes ensue and also the family includes two brown men.

Oh naurrrrr kids learning to deal with grief and also someone in the story is probably gay!

Examples: "Grandad's Camper." Grandad is sad and lonely since Grandpa died and doesn't want to go camping anymore since that's something he used to do with Grandpa. But the grandkids help him remember the happy times they all had together and find ways to celebrate that in ways that help them cope.

And let just clarify, we're not talking about storybooks that are like "ABC Trans is the Only Way to Be" or even "I Love Mommy and Mama." The books are... normal children's storybooks that sometimes have characters that are LGBTQ+. That's not necessarily what they're *about.*

Outing myself as an educator in this school district--I'm proud to work in a place that's prepared to go to the (un)Supreme Court to ensure children receive an inclusive public education. Not sorry if your kid accidentally finds out gay people exist. This decision is bullshit.
