a poorly drawn comic of my ocs, jen harper and lyra spalding. lyra glances at a shirt she's wearing and asks "Uh... you sure about these shirts?" she suddenly gets nervous and says "Oh oh-- don't get me wrong, I like them a lot, it's just... I'm worried people might get the wrong idea if we go out in public with these." Jen retorts "Bit quaint by your standards. You wanna elaborate?" Lyra responds "Well, to be specific... we're nowhere NEAR as active as these suggest." Jen responds "That's PEOPLE'S problem, then." The last panel reveals that Jen's shirt reads "FREAK IN THE SHES" while Lyra's reads "SHE'S IN THIS FREAK," referencing their friends with benefits relationship. next to it is a grey box with white text that quotes the line "I come to you, defenses down, with the trust of a child" from the 1986 Peter Gabriel song "Red Rain," parodying the end-of-chapter quotations in the 1985 graphic novel watchmen. the comic's art gets progressively worse as it goes on, until jen's arms are just crude angular lines with blob hands.

Bio:
Adia has seen things you people... could probably believe for the most part. Other bits, less so.

Constructed centuries ago, Adia's age belies her astonishingly sophisticated design, featuring a level of magitek knowhow that'd baffle even the greatest engineers today. Discovered by accident beneath a disused shopping mall's ruins, Jen and Lyra end up reactivating her while studying her battered body and inner workings, subsequently restoring her to her original condition with her guidance. Adia's reawakening attracts the attention of a mage who she has a mysterious connection with, and this plus the sudden emergence of forces only known in myth kick off a chain of events that are all too familiar to her -- but utterly alien to Jen & Lyra.

Providing Lyra with backup, Adia finds herself returning to a role she never expected to have to take up again. Nevertheless, she hopes that she can do things right this time by ensuring a PERMANENT victory. All the while, she aims to continue her long-unfinished journey to stand fully toe to toe with the organic world that she's cherished since day one. Not to become a "real girl," but to become an intimate, inseparable element of the organic world's beauty.

- Of the 587 years she's spent alive, 231 were spent dormant before Jen & Lyra found her. Consequently, her understanding of the world upon reawakening only spans the first 356 years of her existence. Much of her time afterwards consequently consists of impromptu crash courses via 1) browsing Nettome, 2) spending enough time at the library to annoy the staff, and 3) listening to Jen's yapping.
- While Lyra was the one who found her buried body, Adia considers Jen her closest friend, since Jen's the first person she's met in centuries who's skilled enough with magitek to surmount the learning curve of maintaining and modifying her. (She also enjoys Lyra's company btw!)
- Her original clothes rotted away while dormant and buried save for the nonorganic jewel on her pendant; Jen & Lyra hastily assembled her current wardrobe from a local thrift store.
- Her ahoge doubles as an antenna -- she can use it as a transmitter, a receiver, a radar, etc. She can thank jen for figuring out that it was possible to make it do that.
- Her "skin" is constructed from sheets of specially cured slime plasm laid over mana-treated tin base plates, which makes her feel more lifelike to the touch and allows her to feel tactile stimuli (e.g. touch/texture, temperature, etc.) while maintaining a solid form. Placing these sheets over joint plates is an involved process since they have to be removable for repair work without creating a risk of pinching anything while bending.
- She seem sto know an awful lot about the legends pertaining to the vanquishing of Asa's mortal empire. Maybe a bit more than she lets on.

Bio:
The unwitting protagonist of our story, Lyra always felt like she was only living half a life -- being trans AND draszach (pronounced dʒɹɑʃɑx) will do that. Though her friendship with Jen helped keep her head above water, Lyra was resigned to simply making the most of just existing. However, when she stumbles upon and accidentally reactivates an eons-old robot girl, she sets in motion a chain of events that puts her at the forefront of a fight to determine the fate of everything itself.

Lyra attracts the attention of an enigmatic mage, who has an apparent connection to the robot girl and sees immense potential in Lyra. The question is, does a self-described girlfailure really have what it takes to meet the immense challenges ahead of her?

- Lyra's chosen name comes from "Layran̆a" (pronounced lɑiɹɑinɑ), the name her parents would've given her older sister had she not been stillborn. She modified it to "Lyra" as a nod to her favorite movie when she was a kid.

Since she was little, Jen always loved to tinker. Growing up, she taught herself the ins & outs of magitek and general mana usage, parlaying it into a career after her writing degree proved useless in the job market. She barely scrapes by, but can at least pay her rent -- most of the time.

After her friend finds and accidentally reactivates a robot girl who appears way older than her sophisticated construction would imply, Jen gets swept up in events way bigger than she anticipated. She acts in a supporting role, using her magitek & mana knowhow to help our heroes from the sidelines.

- She jokes that her dream project is a robot girlfriend, but her real dream project is a lot less ostentatious (and a lot less self-centered). She refuses to tell anyone what it is.
- She has way too many unfinished projects lying around. On rare occasions, she'll revisit and retool one because it happened to line up well with a client's request.
- Her full self-given name is really just "Jen." Sometimes her friends call her Jennifer, Jentrification, Jentlementlema'am, Jenthouse, etc. when joking around. Her favorite variation is "Jen Dollar Bill."

oh yeah, today's autistic pride day. didn't have time to draw anything for it this year, so have this repost of what i posted last year on the bird site. it always tickles me that autistic pride day takes place during pride month, so this is a good two-for-one.

Two wisp-like figures forming an infinity symbol while gazing at each other, representing neurodiversity. One is pastel red, while the other is pastel gold, recalling the red and gold colors used among autistic communities. They encircle two hearts -- one with the nonbinary flag on it, the other with the bisexual flag, both of which describe myself in addition to the autistic symbolism (as Autistic Pride Day occurs during Pride Month, and I myself am both autistic and queer). The whole scene is set atop a starry backdrop.

In Excelsis Deo Finally got around to drawing something that I can post on this account. Merry Christmas.

A comic depicting two angels singing "Angels We Have Heard On High". The first verse is sung by a classical humanoid angel: "Angels we have heard on high, sweetly singing o'er the plain. And the mountains in reply, echoing their joyous strain."

The chorus, a stretched-out "Gloria," is sung by an ophanim, the go-to example of a "Biblically accurate angel" (though both it and humanoid angels appear in the Bible).
