Indeed, but it might've been a tad better news had they not hiked them up during the summer. But I still don't get why we aren't getting a Green Electric boon. What's the darn point of it if we are paying the same as if it were Gas sourced.

It belongs to the CoCO, with a Trust doing admin, since handed over sometime after 1971. But I'm not sure what the story is here, beyond the wall on the cusp of collapse.

I'm all for a language test, but for politicians. And for Irish. We saw Carney seamlessly switch into French in many presser.

I to this day have night terrors about those four Galba, Otho, Vitellius, and Vespasian, I could never quite get them straight.

Yes, the very worst thing for them is to be seen as silly. And they have arrived there I think. Plus, that Burnham soft coup has knocked them off their stroke, and the headlines.

I'm of two minds. It seems the main parties are leaving it to oddballs & folding NF into that envelope. Which is kinda inspired. But it's showing disrespect to the people of that constituency. Eitherway, its not going to have hints of the old PM Tamworth seat legitimacy Makerfield provided Burnham.

I get tired of Watermelon after the third time. We had 31C here in Ireland today, and its been hovering about 30C for a bit now. For cooking I do it every second day, that way you only face the heat once, with maybe a couple of seconds on the gas to warm it on day two. And a Czech Pils over ice.

We have a Gordian Knot where people with houses want them to rise, without fall. But the Gov should be able to cleave it by building lots of new ones. This foregoing will add to the cost problem.

What's sad is it's necessary. For other than a bit of spite directed at OAP's, big farmers and private schools nothing much else that could be called inspired has come out.

I have little issue with this, on its face a good thing. Other countries make it work. The tiny issue, its designed to reduce future costs to the State from the OAP. But it not the OAP but the civil and public pensions that are the lions share of the current costs not the OAP.

This is something that happens when a pub gets a new owner. Every latchiko in twenty miles that had been barred across three counties turns up.

The problem that follows from that is instead of themselves gaining, they pass on information, and then are put on Boards when they lose elections of retire. A register on member interests is cleaner and far easier to investigate.

Why did the DPP take this. A two hour jury deliberation is a backhander to the DPP.

The SCOTUS decision on Corps providing money held a corp was an Entity, but didn't touch the aspect that each State managed those within their borders.

I think had we not moved towards electric cars things would be way more raw. And those upcoming family decisions on the next car will tilt heavily to EV's. Sooo, yes, the gobshite has done quite a bit for the Green agenda :-D .

I've been following Paul Krugman and a few others. It seems the US in self-sufficient in oil & gas. But not in fertiliser, which will hit agri'. You have until the end of the summer before things get scarce. The EU is measured in weeks. The far east and India are being hit now.

I don't think the police have the wherewithal to investigate Madelson, both in manpower and mental scope. He's been around since the 90s at or near the centre of power. And god knows what he let loose at Salons and Symposia since then, be it active dissemination of just gossip to impress.

The News generally have more interest in the news cycle than analysis. It seems to me that Netanyahu saw this administration as the last chance to pulverise Iran with US help.

I'm not sure how they do it now, but language teaching from 12 was preparation for Uni. Say 100 pupils in a year, 10 took it for Uni, the 90 would have gained from Conversation. Cervantes for the 10, being able to chat for the 90 who might find a love later. It was more a weeding out process.

The problem with any sort of pastry casing is the bottom never gets cooked out. And if you do it will be burnt on the top. I've tried it with a oven chip tray, the one with the holes, and the bits above the holes half cook. And you can't blind bake either, for the two halves wont connect.

The VAT take over the last few weeks is a windfall. And since it is added to the fuel cost and all the tax add onn's, the 20c and this 10c a litre so called gift is not going to shift the exchequer take one iota. Get someone with a modicum of Tax nous on staff to read the data properly.

I've wondered about that for a while now, beginning after the Brexit Vote. I arrived at two conclusions. 1, public broadcasting is a target for both extremes, L&R. 2, but a centrist position is a status quo, in which many people have been marooned. RTE on housing is embarrassing, ditto the BBC.

They have gigantic leeway given the percentage they take on fuel. But they would need to impose measures to prevent gouging.

To your point on if it will cause an instant drop.It depends on where the levy is taken. If at the point of sale to the consumer, that we should see it instantly. If further back ... .

He came to Ireland in the late 1940s, and was utterly shocked at what he saw in church run institutions. And it took another 60 years for the Ryan Report to fully expose it.

I can play piano and guitar to some extent, intellectual endeavour both. But I was musing this evening on which instrument speaks to me at the molecular (soul, in old money). And it seems it depends on the Movement. Flute, Oboe, Violin, Piano, Guitar. I may be too old for just one.

Thinking back to my pre-teens, I thought Piranha and Quicksand would feature more in my life. But I also thought the ending of the Vietnam War finished the US kicking off wars in places for the sheer sake of it.

What I don't get is why the competition area of the EU isn't on this. Why are we pegging to gas, why is the Standing Charge not folded into usage. What's the point of having competition with the customer facing aspect if the price is more or less fixed below them.

He took the landscape out of the Lordly Precinct. The duke/earl, his lady, the kids, in all their finery, their big house and usually a dog and a fowling piece.

Sportspeople can be a bit tin-eared. It took quite some time for the national rugby unions to stop playing South Africa. This poster is fine in a museum, but as apparel becomes a coded message. Maybe not so coded.

Indeed. And an adjacent Svengali. What I can't assess from this side is whether there's a measure of sympathy for the PM over the Mandelson revelations. I have noted Corbyn is out on the media quite a bit this week.

I don't see LDs SNP or Green hitching their wagon to Tory or Reform. Either or both would be left with the UU. What the Cons are missing is the Grieve semi-sane wing. So could drop numbers to LDs and Green.

I sense they will gain about 20 to 30 MPs next GE, taking from Labour and the Tories. Mostly in the leafy suburbs. But I don't see Farage's lot making the gains touted, more or less the same as the Greens. It may come to the SNP, PC and others to make a government.

Could be that the Duchy of Lancaster has bits tucked in between the crown estate proper. Those lands stayed with the king/queen.
