The Volt is fully charged and… the battery is alive! 43 miles of estimated range, which is within the expected drop from the original 53 EPA estimate when new. It seems that GM engineers can kick ass when given the chance.

Just picked up the ‘16 Chevy Bolt that I will be driving for the next few days. To my dismay, the battery was at 0% of charge. The owner says that they don’t even have a place to plug it. 😢 Currently feeding it the first meal of electrons in… maybe years? We’ll see.

This is going to be my chariot for the next few days. A last year Nissan Leaf. So far I am pleasantly surprised! Range is a trade about 200 miles and it feels quite nicely screwed together. Not at all the penalty box I was expecting!

DC public charging tested and, as NASA would say, all is nominal! The clunky adapter did his job. The car even started charging while the #ev charger was still complaining. With this, the US spec #BMW is confirmed 100% usable overseas :)

Next step in the big BMW i3 migration is fulfilled: all adaptors are in! A Schuko to Type 1 wall charger, a Type 1 to Type 2 cable, and last but not least, a USA license plate to EU plate. A CCS1 to CCS2 adaptor is already waiting overseas. I believe this should cover all the necessary hardware!
