They’re not going to like this approach when it’s a Dem admin. However, what’s good for the goose…

Now that we’ve seen what the Republican plan looks like in action, not just theoretical, maybe we can finally get towards what Talarico discusses here. The country is ready for a humane and realistic immigration reform plan. We need to hold our politicians feet to the fire to make it happen.

A couple times in the last 20 yrs, under republican and democratic admins, we’ve had some form of bipartisan immigration reform that could’ve passed both chambers and each time it was scuttled by republicans, mainly house republicans.

No chance that these races happen this season. The beginning of next season over there is also in doubt.

I hope they realize they can be removed under a future admin based on the precedents set under our current admin.

Your original statement was that all these parties are suggesting regulation so why aren’t we getting it. I was attempting to respond to that. Clearly I did a terrible job of conveying my point. Apologies.

viewdthrugray.bsky.social @viewdthrugray.bsky.social · 10/09/2026
Correct. I agree with you. Doesn’t change the point however. Those “many”, whatever we want to call them, stand to lose financially in a stronger regulatory and slowed pace environment and are therefore preventing the change that the public and the engineers are demanding and recommending.

Investors, big tech oligarchs, banks, etc. The people with the influence to ensure no regulation occurs.

The reality is that this industry should probably be nationalized, at least in some aspect. Imagine if the atomic race had been directed by private industry and capital.

The public wants regulation, the scientists seem to suggest that they want regulation, but the monied interests want full steam ahead. It’s clear who’s driving the ship at this point.

With the amount of money that’s been invested in this technology and its build out, it seems that real regulation and a slowdown of the technological race would probably cause serious financial problems for many. That seems to be why it’s not happening.

Instead of them reminiscing on the past, how about they step up and say and help do something about our current democratic backsliding under their party’s leadership, or lack there of.

We receive no subsidies due to higher income threshold and our rates have still risen more than 50% with worse deductibles since the Republicans trashed the marketplace.

Yup, our Baylor Scott & White sent us notices that they were out after December. They had already jacked up 2026 rates $900 monthly. Dreading what 2027 is going to look like.

💯. The only technology of the future this country seems concerned about, when it comes to losing ground to China, is AI. We are making a big mistake on ceding the energy technologies to China and other nations.

While this seems delusional and pathetic, and in many ways it is, it’s also calculated to add to the propagandized notion that if republicans lose, it was all rigged because his polling showed him winning. More groundwork being laid in this statement. Another log on the pile.

The 27% is a pretty clear representation of the locked in MAGA base. Sadly, that’s a high enough % of the population to cause big political and governing problems. The kind of which we’ve been mired in for a while now. This is going to be a long and difficult road out.

He left out a party that’s taking stakes in private companies and requiring them to do business with companies it deems acceptable. A party that’s setup government subsidized fuel stations that are not based on market conditions.

Dems need to get creative and figure out ways to utilize these decisions to their advantage when they inevitably return to power. Whether that’s through a future executive branch or legislatively or both. Not sure what that looks like but they better start thinking outside the box.

Sorry Bill, but you’re partially responsible for all of this mess. You can’t slink away now. You, along with all of your senate and house colleagues, state and federal, as well as the Republican voters own all of this.
