I'm not going to judge how people spend their money, not my place. But I will say, this practice has been happening more often in the last couple of years which I appreciate. It doesn't tie the manufacturing of these products which could be delayed, to when you obtain the game.

We had a local grocery store and the center aisle had video rentals. My grandma would take my siblings and I for food for the weekend and we'd rent a couple of movies. Almost every weekend was a box of frosted cheerios for snacking and a horror film for her and I to watch together.
