Wood. Gouache on paper. 5th one for #septembera. A sort of mock cover for a story of a girl that becomes a dryad. Got a bit overambitious, got away from me for a moment, took a bit more sweat and a bit more tweaking than usual. But I think it worked out in the end.

Painting of a girl / dryad holding a floating, glowing magical seed.

Stone. Gouache on paper. 4th one for #septempera. There's a village near where I live where there's this tree that awkwardly hugs the last remnants of a stone wall. I've been wanting to paint it for a while. And I took the chance to put in a tiny homage to a favorite of mine, Rien Poortvliet.

Painting of a twisting tree hugging some piled stones. A robin stands on top, little gnomes can be spied peeking through holes in the trunk.

Some more progress! Proto-boots and unbaked hat! Lost an arm (rest assured, it will be reattached later)! Next is priming and base coating the head before adding some hair tufts to it. Made a quick test and there's already little bits of hair everywhere even after cleanup 😭

Probably doing #septempera again this year (my gouache September challenge), but I'm trying to figure out the best way to go about it. I know I don't want to do it daily (aiming for 8-12 paintings maybe?), but I might do a very open-ended list for it... 🤔 This little bug is from the 2020 edition.
