I've done this to myself, and so I got in the habit of saving every pose I do before I close out, just in case. It's gotten me out of a few blunders (and cleared the way for me to commit other blunders).

I've always been a fan of the lovely painted works used as covers for those old periodicals, and I was thinking only of those and of, I guess, a saucier version of the culture depicted in-game in Rak'tika, but I see how how it evoked problematic views of indigenous people. I'll do better in future.

It probably helps that I don’t use either for actual posing since I like keeping Ana on my second monitor and my view of my poses unobscured, but yeah, I can definitely see what a pain the new versions will make things for awhile :(

I switched to 0.3.0 as soon as the beta came out, because the light source feature was just too good to pass up. As a result I've gotten used to the UI, and you will too! Though yeah, the old one was probably slightly more intuitive.

I may be mistaken, but I'm not sure even among the DSA crowd any kind of reform of digital rights management is commonly on their radar. Even if they start to champion it more full-throatedly, we'd be years off from any practicable solution. And they'd be fought tooth and nail by the industries.

But the one advantage physical media has had (until now) over the ideal solution (involving consumer friendly regulation of digital formats) is that it's real, and it's here. It's the only means of asserting ownership over media that we have, and the only one we're likely to have any time soon.

Thing is, I think grappling with the present situation is exactly what people are doing. I agree that what we need long-term is a better solution, not to go back to discs per se, and I don't think most people who buy physical media do it because discs are just so fun and easy to manage.

But it's all part of one cultural awakening to how ephemeral digital purchases really are. Even with games, despite the logistics, I think it's healthy for people to push back on the digital rights hellscape, even they're late and outnumbered. And: No worries, you've been perfectly delightful!

And in lieu of that, physical media provides something that people have some ostensible control over, at least locally. It's less complicated with other media that don't require downloads, like CDs (which word is there's a resurgence of some sort for, even if it is a slight blip in a long line).

And since it's probably mostly gamers even bothering with movies on a Sony platform, it's natural that they'd see connective tissue between the policies on both storefronts. As for stronger consumer protections, I think we all sense that our government is pushing us in the opposite direction.

I think the two events both are and aren't linked. Organizationally they likely aren't: two departments of Sony likely took independently prescribed actions. But the movie thing erodes the (misplaced) public confidence in digital purchasing overall. If they'll take my movies, they'll take my games!

On some level I think people have understood that this would eventually happen, but I think they've been mollified by the siren sound of convenience when they didn't really have to worry too much about the rest. The removal of movies from people's accounts certainly has helped to drive this home.

I can't say I've seen anyone who's speaking out contesting those market realities. I think just about anyone who pays attention knows that digital has taken over. But I also think a lot of them are only now, faced with the realities of the choice going away entirely, grappling with what it means.

I think by and large people have reckoned with all of that, and are still angry. The awakening to the crusade of the powerful against the concept of ownership (for regular people) of every commodity we trade, claiming all asset value for themselves, has been far too slow, but it's picking up steam.
