Set off at 3.30 this morning to walk to our local lido during the solstice sunrise for a 4.30 swim. Beautiful start to the longest day.

Not for the first time, Nigel Farage has no idea what he’s talking about. I work in school attendance and I see we’re the latest people he’s accusing of anti-white prejudice. Schools have a duty to address all attendance issues. That has to be done on a case by case basis.

Two in five white working-class pupils miss school once a fortnight. Some 40% of these pupils are
"persistently absent". White working-class kids are being let down.
We constantly hear of "systemic inequality" and
"disadvantages", but never are these terms applied to white working-class children. In this culture of anti-white prejudice, it is assumed that these kids are in fact advantaged.
Nothing could be further from the truth. It is clear that our system has left these children behind. Despite the assumptions of our political class, many of them are not benefitting from the fruits of our education system.
Reform is the only party that sees these children. This is because we want every child to succeed regardless of their ethnicity.
Two-tier Britain has ignored this problem for too long.
Reform is here to fix it.

Haha! Prompted me to find mine. Taken at the old Arsenal shop at Finsbury Park…

Goodness me it’s been a long old winter. Still a way to go, but today it was nice to remember what it feels like to have sun on your face and wind at your back. And outdoor coffee and cake is much nicer when it’s not raining.

This is me today on a navigation training course. Tech switched off, maps and compasses out. Learning how to do it all retro-style. So nice to tune in to nature and get back to basics for a while, even with all the freezing rain and mud!

An amazing 6-0 win for Hertford Town Women in their first FA Cup game. Great match and such a promising start 🤞

That’s a shame. They’d be a lot nearer to me if they were in London. This is their ridiculously photogenic Bath shop.

🧵 This is one of the books I’ve read over the holidays. It’s published by Persephone Books, a small bookshop in Bath, who mainly print novels and diaries by overlooked women writers of the 1930s and 40s. This one is about a German woman engaged to a Jewish doctor during the rise of Nazi Germany

This was fabulous. Beautifully written, thought-provoking, almost too painful to read towards the end. Another £2.49 well spent in the Oxfam bookshop.

Not a good afternoon for Hertford Town Women today (7-1). But nice to be back after a couple of missed games. Need to get them to make the move to Bluesky…

Damn you Newcastle. You and your university have charmed the oldest child and now she thinks going to live 5 hours away from home is a good idea. Can’t say I blame her though.
