I fully forgot to reply for some reason. I liked it a lot, just gave it another read. I love the relationship your Eva and Natsuhi have both before and after 1986, it's very compelling. Eva was even very sweet in this one. It's nice to see that side of her every now and then.

I can definitely see hounds being retired like that, but even if the Empire postpones its downfall indefinitely, I cannot ever see it achieving a state of victory that would contain an end to the war. Empires need war. They will just find more enemies and make new hounds.

Bronze can also stain your skin when reacting with your sweat, and it can cause a reaction if you have a nickel allergy. Both can be aleviated if the caseback is made of a different material. The patina can add a lot of character, but those reasons I think bronze may work better for a pocket watch.
