"September 2026 Wrap-Up

01 Oct, 2026

It's been years since I've regularly posted on a blog1, but I miss blogging. I've wanted to start back up again, especially now that I have the free time associated with being an adult with a full time job2.

I've been scared though."

A graphic showing a green cat in the following positions: stretching, holding a fish, holding pistachios, eating strawberries, frolicking with pumpkins, holding a potion, making a Korean love symbol, in a box of lemons with a lemon hat, in a gardening hat with a trowel, with catnip, sleeping in flowers, running with milk, hiding pineapples, sleeping on a cloud, chasing chocolate, and in a banana suit. Plus, a white cat in a red apron looking distressed; and two brown cats, one mischievously pressing a red button, and one chilling on a lounge chair.

Daily bunny no.3426 is this city's best-kept secret

A bunny stands on the railing of a rooftop, looking out over a darkened city at night. There is a small hidden cafe on the rooftop, with only one table and some chairs. A waiter from the cafe serves a cupcake, while the bunny looking at the view is sipping black tea.

whoaaaa this turned out gorgeous!!! very nice work!! but justice for the back loop!! i love when there's a loop on the jacket because if you have to hang it on a hook, you don't have to drape it by the neckline which can warp the fabric, you have a handy little built-in loop for it.

vicky 💚 @vickyagain.bsky.social · 22/08/2026

ooh yeah that's fair, i went mostly by keeping series together, then size, then color last. makes sense though that prioritizing color would make it tricky to fit.

twist or warp the history and conventions to be better suited to focusing on a romance plotline. (e.g. making monogamy standard for an emperor and removing concubines, changing some gendered roles or pulling from different time periods in history)

120

vicky 💚 @vickyagain.bsky.social · 09/08/2026

so specifically i want like. the east asian equivalent of the regency romance genre. because like regency romance clearly is not pure historical -- there's a lot of glossing over or manipulation of the history. and same here, many of these east asian hist rom style novels ...

110

vicky 💚 @vickyagain.bsky.social · 09/08/2026

and most east asian historical romance only gets popular appeal as fantasy / romantasy novels. but it's a pretty big genre abroad. there's a lot of like. chinese historical romance webnovels that get translated to english by fans. or think of like the apothecary diaries.

120

vicky 💚 @vickyagain.bsky.social · 09/08/2026

i don't think it's going to happen without some author going viral, but what i want to happen is there to be a segment for east asian historical romance in western publishing. there are very few writers who write east asian setting historical romance branded as romance (e.g. jeannie lin), ...
