this was a catnip plant I bought from the grocery store a couple years ago, planted outside at the old house, then potted it here at the apartment. it's bigger than it's ever been! I have small hands but those leaves are 3" long lmfao... maybe I should dry some & sell on Etsy?

this is Jeff. he was originally inside the kitchen, but after putting him back outside twice, he climbed around the outside of the house & found a way back in thru one of the living room windows. he is here because we have a fly problem. Jeff is now part of the family, despite mom being grossed out.

went to the peninsula with a friend a couple days ago. got my feets wet in a lil pond tributary draining into the bay. there are native wild pink climbing roses everywhere out there. found a ton of accessible sassafras that I'm gonna harvest to try & make root beer. I missed nature... 🥹🪻

went around the side of the house just to look & found this hot wheels toy just chilling on my neighbor's windowsill. no idea how long it's been there, but the yellow popped & caught my eye.

between two houses with cream colored siding, a window framed with faded and peeling hunter green paint on the left in perspective. there is a bright canary yellow Hot Wheels toy car sitting on the window sill, silently watching the world go by. there's a brown wooden fence at the end of the alley and a black vehicle, a light blue house, and green trees beyond it in the background.

I spent yesterday afternoon hauling a bunch of garbage out of the backyard, til my face was red. even after a cold shower, ice cream & iced tea my face was still pink. the 100% humidity makes it feel 10° hotter than it actually is... but I did it. also discovered laid bricks under the grass!

so, here's the current state of the apartment, the comfort level gets a little better every day. the building is sagging & the floors are like a fun house, it's filthy, there was a gas leak, the toilet is clogged, there's no heat & the "backyard"... exists. but we're gonna make the best of it.

I HAVE THOSE BOWLS I even found a big soup bowl & tea cups! they aren't very old & the red designs tend not to survive cause they're painted over the glaze, (and people don't know how to gently wash) but I fell in love with the translucent rice pattern 🥹
