#NP Diveboy | In Orbit Hard to believe that local indie-rock legends Diveboy have released album number three. A total balm for the week that was in it, and after a magical in-store today at the local record emporium those November gigs can't come quickly enough 😎

#NP Echo and the Bunnymen | Apples For Issac So good to have new a Bunnymen album and frankly it's rather wonderful. The late great Clem Burke adds a great and poignant dimension to the record. Couldn't ask for a better end to a Saturday night. You really can't beat the 'old reliables' 😎

#NP Dexys Midnight Runners | LOVE 'I hate getting old' Not having any of it. So happy to collect my copy of Dexy's latest album today (with the bells and whistles of a tote bag, postcards and badges). If you've read Kevin's autobiography it totally lands, and if not likewise. Wonderful 👌

#NP INSTITUT | Changer de paradis, tout simplement Last one for this evening and a very welcome arrival for INSTITUT's new album, slated for an early October release. Really wonderful electropop, though I will need to spend some time on the lyrics over the weekend. The vinyl looks very tempting 😎

#NP Roxy Music | Heart Still Beating Holiday 'crate' rescue, just in need of a good cleaning, and I now have a long wished for double vinyl pressing of Roxy's great live recordings from 1982. As ever, if it's out there with your name on it you'll find it. Eventually 😂

Vincent_B @vgbpw1.bsky.social · 25/09/2026

#NP Bryan Ferry | Bête Noire What do you play after two weeks away from your turntable? Something sumptuously and meticulously recorded, and probably bought on that two week absence. Bête Noire fits the bill perfectly. I actually bought two copies but that's for another day. Magnificent.

#NP Aldous Harding | Train On The Island First spin of Aldous' most recent release and a perfect entry point to what I hope will be a very lazy Sunday indeed. It's beautifully recorded, and feels very warm and intimate. As I said, perfect for Sunday morning (with a cup of coffee) 👌 🎶 ☕

#NP Ellie O'Neill | Time Of Fallow Delighted with this speculative purchase from the ever dependable Plug'd Records. Debut (I think) album from Co. Meath artist Ellie O'Neill. Captivating songs a captivating voice, and a great Saturday night listen 👌 ellieoneill.bandcamp.com/album/time-o...

#NP Julia Holter I Materia A companion album, of sorts, to Something In The Room She Moves, but so wonderfully evocative and expansive in and of its self. There are those lush and addictive melodies to draw the listener in, and then fabulous rewards for attentive listening. Mint 👌

With @rickymca.bsky.social on overseas duty it falls to the #PROC representative to do the decent thing (noting that I'll be in Dublin anyway for the Manics double header in The Olympics on the Wednesday and Thursday). Mrs. B has given me the green light. I love it when a plan comes together 😂 👍

Just reading about Susanne Sundfør's forthcoming album 'Revelations of Divine Love', which has been inspired, in part, by the 14th century writings of the mystic Julian of Norwich. If I had to pick a medieval town to live in etc. This will be amazing 👌 👍 🎶

#NP Pink Floyd | Eclipse (BBC Radio recordings 1970/1971) As the years roll by my appreciation of pre-Dark Side PF grows and grows. Concentrating tonight on the July 1970 recording, of which Atom Heart Mother is simply off the scale. Breathtaking ambition and realisation.

#NP Tangerine Dream | Optical Race After BOC earlier I think I subconsciously needed this, one of my favourite TD albums. Released in 1988 when the band considered of Edgar Froese and Paul Haslinger, it captures two quite different musicians at the height of their game. Always a joy to play ▶️ 🎹 🎶

Vincent_B @vgbpw1.bsky.social · 15/08/2026

#NP Boards Of Canada | Inferno File under Saturday night entertainment, not. An all too tangible evocaion of our slow motion collective societal car crash, stunningly informed by superb inner and outer artwork. I might chance this one in the dark tomorrow night. Mint electronica 🎼 🎹 🎶

#NP Phoebe Bridgers | Lost Weekend Second spin of Phoebe's third and the cover holds the entry key for me: it's just a little elusive, but waiting to be found. I initially thought some of the musical embellishments were superfluous, but now I'm thinking not. There will definitely be further spins.

#NP Dire Straits I Communiqué Stop me if you've heard this (one) before: hands down my favourite Dire Straits album. I can remember somewhat lukewarm reviews on release, but it has totally stood the test of time. And it isn't all about the guitars: Pick Withers' drumming is simply sublime. Mint 👌

I actually think that Charli's album is better on vinyl with the short version of No One Lasts Forever keeping to the album's 2 / 3 minute rock-pop aesthetic. The longer version with David Cronenberg feels slightly prog. No keeping (the) hoi polloi happy 😂 www.theguardian.com/music/2026/a...

A pressing issue: why are vinyl albums becoming so different from their digital versions?

They’re expensive, elaborate – and may not contain all the music. After Olivia Rodrigo, Charli xcx and more sent out incomplete or unfinished vinyl versions, fans are feeling shortchanged

#NP The Waterboys | Atlantic Rain So the Atlantic Rain did roll in today on a bank holiday Monday afternoon and a perfect time to play The Lost Fisherman's Blues Recordings. A fabulous addition to the original album and previously released additional recordings. Back for second helpings after tea 😊

#NP Laura Marling | Patterns In Repeat | Manchester Albert Hall 2025 A truly fabulous double live album, it's really studio quality and must have been a wonderful show to attend. Laura's vocals in particular are amazing. This is so good, and a perfect start to a lazy Sunday morning 🎶 ☕ 👌

#NP Scritti Politti | Cupid & Psyche 85 Delighted to finally have a copy of this bona fide classic on vinyl, albeit the recently rereleased and expanded anniversary edition. It was both of its time, but out of time and has always remained a timeless pop masterclass imo. Wonderful 👌 🎶 👍

Vincent_B @vgbpw1.bsky.social · 01/08/2026

#NP Charli XCX | Music, Fashion, Film It turns out that I shouldn't have been concerned about MFF's 'rock stylings' as it's still pure Charli. The tracks don't clock more than 3 minutes, all are full of irresistible hooks and melodies, and it's perfect for a Saturday night: her indie disco record.

#NP The Coral | 388 Without knowing any backstory to the album and a totally speculative purchase: what can I say? An 'old' Culture / Gladiators / Wailers / Congos fan is very, very happy this evening. Absolutely true to the spirit and most definitely not pastiche. Brilliant, absolutely brilliant 👍

#NP Tricky | Different When It's Silent. A record that's been rarely off my turntable over the past week. It's an amazing mix of minimal electronica, blues, post-punk and trip hop / hip hop. It keeps pulling me back for more. Tricky's first release in quite a while and a most welcome return.

260

Vincent_B @vgbpw1.bsky.social · 24/07/2026

#NP The Strokes | Reality Awaits It's a pure pop sugar rush, no other way to describe it. Please don't conflate that with lack of substance: Reality Awaits positively sparkles. The cover art is a bit suspect though: some basic quality control wouldn't have gone amiss. But the music's ace 🎯 👍
