Typed out a whole paragraph to my co-parent. Reread it. Deleted it. Took a breath and sent “👍” instead. Sometimes maturity is knowing you don't need the last word. We have to do better.

Whenever someone tries to flirt with me, but I've been single so long that I don't recognize it. Them: "You look good." Me: "Thanks, I showered." Them: "Can I get your number?" Me: "Why?" Apparently my flirting radar has been offline for so long it needs a software update.

From the Continental Army of 1775 to the military of today, the technology and battlefields have changed, but the commitment to service remains. I wore the uniform, served, and learned that the uniform eventually comes off, but the values, memories and responsibility stay with you. This We'll Defend

The only way to impress me is by being a good person. I don't care what you own, wear, drive, or where you live. Give me a person with a pure heart, good intentions, loyalty, and true character. Material things can be bought. Character can't.

7 lines that hit hard: Once is a mistake. Twice is a decision. People remember how you made them feel. Growth sometimes means losing people. An apology means less when you have to ask for it. Know both sides before judging. Feel what you need to heal.

You ever reach the point where you've had enough and just say, "Fuck it"? Yeah. That's usually when the questionable decisions start. You've been patient, understanding, and quiet long enough. Just take a breath before the "fuck it" version of you makes a decision tomorrow-you has to explain.

They say, "Kill them with kindness." Sometimes you need to kill them with silence. Not everyone deserves your kindness, your explanation, or your energy. Stop arguing with people committed to misunderstanding you. Protect your peace and let silence be the boundary.

Never underestimate the power of "you can." You can start over. You can heal. You can rebuild. You can survive things you thought would break you. You don't have to know how you'll get there. Just believe you can take the next step. Then take it.

Some people don't get to live soft lives. We get handed chaos, grief, betrayal and loss, then learn how to keep going anyway. Eventually, we become the ones who show up when others are falling apart because we remember what it felt like when nobody showed up for us.

Common sense is officially an endangered species. Every day I see something that makes me wonder how we made it this far. Stupidity seems to have taken over, and apparently there is no cure. At this point, I'm just minding my business and shaking my head.

One thing about those tables, baby... they always turn. Don't think you can create chaos in someone else's life and walk away untouched. What you create for others can eventually become your own reality. Karma doesn't need my help. It doesn't miss, and it doesn't forget.

Not everyone gets the same version of me. One person might tell you I'm an amazing, caring soul. Another might call me a cold-hearted bastard. Believe them both. I give people the energy they give me. Treat me right, and you'll see my best side.

VetDad @vetdad330.bsky.social · 23/09/2026
My soul is on a budget. I can't afford negativity, doubt, drama, hate, or bad vibes anymore. Life is already hard enough without carrying things that aren't mine. If it costs me my peace, I'm not buying it.

Thank You, God, for everything You have given me. For my kids, my family, another day, and the strength to keep moving forward. I've been through some hard seasons, but I can still look around and find so much to be grateful for.

If work has taught me anything, it's that not everyone listening has your best interests at heart. Be friendly, be respectful, and do your job, but don't assume every coworker needs to know your personal business. Some people listen because they care. Others are collecting information.

NPD is a real mental health disorder involving patterns like grandiosity, a strong need for admiration, entitlement and lack of empathy. But you don't have to diagnose someone to recognize unhealthy behavior or set boundaries when their actions are hurting you.

VetDad @vetdad330.bsky.social · 23/09/2026
Kindness isn't a transaction. It's a gift. A smile, some encouragement, or simply treating someone with respect might be exactly what they need to get through a difficult day. You may never know what someone is carrying, so give people a little grace.

Every family has that one crazy, wild child. The one who keeps everyone on their toes, turns the house into chaos, and somehow always has a story to tell. Yeah... This one is mine. And honestly, I wouldn't change a thing.

My kids have gotten me through more than they'll ever know. Every smile, every "Daddy," every "Will you help me?" gives me another reason and another purpose. They think I'm the one taking care of them, but they'll never know how many times their love has taken care of me.

VetDad @vetdad330.bsky.social · 23/09/2026
"How are you so calm? Like nothing bothers you." Because a lot of the things I was once afraid of already happened. I've survived things I thought would break me. I still feel things, but I've learned to breathe, handle what I can, and keep moving forward.

Becoming a parent changed my life. It taught me what love, responsibility, sacrifice, and purpose really mean. Parenting isn't always easy, but knowing my kids need me makes every hard day worth pushing through. If I could choose again, I'd still choose being a dad.

Some people aren't angry because you did something wrong. They're angry because they can't control you anymore. The moment you set boundaries, say no, trust yourself, and stop seeking their approval, suddenly you're the problem. Let them be mad. Your life is yours.

Living with someone who constantly gaslights you can make you question your own memory and judgment. They rewrite conversations, isolate you from people who challenge them, demand attention, and play the victim. If this feels familiar, remember that you are allowed to trust yourself.

My toxic trait is that I have a hard time giving up on people. Even when they hurt me enough to make me angry, I still look for the good in them. I’m learning that seeing the good in someone doesn’t mean I have to keep accepting the bad.

If you start smiling at their text messages, block them. Those are feelings, and we don’t have those anymore. First you smile at the texts, then you’re checking your phone, waiting for good morning messages. Stay strong. Do NOT smile at that text.

I’d rather be the overprotective dad who worries too much than the parent who wishes they had paid more attention. After everything I’ve been through with my kids, I’ll never apologize for wanting to keep them safe.

I’ll always root for people who are genuinely trying to do better. Life isn’t easy, and everyone has battles you know nothing about. If you’re trying to grow, heal, change, or rebuild your life, keep going. Progress is still progress.

I’ve been single so long I wouldn’t even know how to act in a relationship. “What do you mean we have to talk today? We just talked yesterday.” “What do you mean you want to see me? We just saw each other last week.” I may need a relationship training manual.

Maybe God made me a girl dad because I learned how to be strong early. She came into my life to teach me that strength isn't always toughness. Sometimes it's okay to soften, feel, rest, and let someone see the heart behind the strength.

People think I stay to myself because I’m a loner. Truth is, I watch the fake friendships, drama, gossip and chaos around me and want no part of it. I’d rather have peace by myself than be part of someone else’s circus.

Please take care of yourselves and avoid unnecessary accidents. Some of us are getting to that age where spare parts for old models are no longer in stock. You pull a muscle and suddenly you’re wondering if it’s covered under warranty.

If you’re single, try dating apps. You’ll probably still be single, but you’ll appreciate it more. You’ll also have more money because after a few dates, you’ll realize staying home, eating snacks and protecting your peace was the better deal.

Thinking about standing outside restaurants on Valentine’s Day holding a sign that says, “YOU MOVED ON REALLY QUICK.” Not because I’m bitter. I just feel like somebody needs to provide the entertainment. I’ll bring the folding chair.

VetDad @vetdad330.bsky.social · 19/09/2026
Please don’t let the ugly in other people destroy the beauty in you. You can walk away, set boundaries, and protect your peace without becoming bitter or cold. What someone else does to you doesn’t have to change the kind of person you choose to be.

I’ll never judge someone for breaking down in tears over something that seems small. I know they’re probably not crying because of that one thing. They’re crying because it was the moment everything they’ve been holding inside finally became too much.

VetDad @vetdad330.bsky.social · 19/09/2026
I’ll never judge someone who breaks down over something small. Sometimes it isn’t about that moment at all. It’s everything they’ve been holding in for months or years, and that small thing was simply what finally broke the dam. Give people grace.

You’ve carried the weight of the world, survived things that could have crushed you, and still found a way to smile. That’s warrior energy. Not because you never struggled, but because you kept getting back up and moving forward.

In one lifetime, I’ve recorded music off the radio onto cassettes, burned CDs, clicked and dragged songs onto MP3 players, and now stream almost anything from my phone. Technology changed FAST. If you remember waiting by the radio to hit record, you know.

I’ll never judge someone by their darkest moments or use them against them. I’ve seen my own darkness and know how close it can come to taking everything from you. But you can find the light again. Keep going. Your darkest chapter isn’t your ending.

Growing up, our cousins weren’t just family. They were our best friends. We were always together. Now everyone has their own lives, and some of us can go years without seeing each other. Sometimes I miss those days more than I miss being a kid.

If it’s draining you more than it’s uplifting you, let it go. Don’t wait until you’ve completely lost yourself trying to make it work. Sometimes letting go isn’t giving up. It’s finally choosing your peace.

I don’t always ask for help because sometimes I need to know I can figure it out myself. It might take longer. It might be harder. But when I finally get there, I’ll know I didn’t quit. I made it.

Everything happens for a reason. So when I tell you to stop doing something for the 47th time and give you that look from across the room, just know there’s a reason. Parenting is mostly repeating yourself until your kids finally realize you weren’t joking.

VetDad @vetdad330.bsky.social · 17/09/2026
I’m okay with burning a few bridges. Not because I don’t care, but because I’m tired of being the only one rebuilding them. Sometimes walking away isn’t about anger. It’s about finally choosing your peace.

Sometimes my prayer is simply: Lord, let me stay on this earth long enough to know my kids are going to be okay. Not for me, but for them. I just want enough time to love them, guide them, and prepare them for life.

Should adult children living at home pay rent? They could pay rent, help with groceries and utilities, take on more household responsibilities, or have parents save their "rent" for a future move. What arrangement actually helps them become independent and financially responsible?
000
VetDad @vetdad330.bsky.social · 17/09/2026
Rent is so high that some people are staying in relationships that have been over for a long time. Not because they’re happy or still in love, but because they can’t afford to live separately. When the cost of leaving is too high, people can feel trapped.
000
VetDad @vetdad330.bsky.social · 17/09/2026
Children didn’t ask to be here. They didn’t choose this life. We chose to bring them into it. That means changing, sacrificing, and showing up for them. We won’t be perfect, but they deserve our best every day.

Y'all grew up with babysitters. I grew up with: "Don't answer the door." "Don't tell anyone we're home." "If the phone rings, let it ring." "Be home when the streetlights come on." That was the babysitter. Who else had the "don't answer the door" childhood?

Me: Just flirting for fun. Her: "So when can I see you?" Me: Wait... When did this become an appointment? I thought we were just flirting, not making plans. Now I'm looking at my calendar like I need to schedule a meeting. Apparently, I should've read the terms and conditions.
