Did you visit other non-Java islands in Indonesia? What were your impressions as to how it compares, may I ask?

10 years behind for Kim Iversen, too. She's always been extremely grifty and waffled a lot on Trump. Both her and MTG will believe just about any conspiracy theory they hear. It takes a lot for Trump to lose the wild-eyed tinfoils.

I'll be honest I always poked fun at people for being conspiracy theorists in suggesting Epstein wasn't a suicide. I'm a little more open-minded about that one today.

Out of curiosity, may I ask how bad the lingering effects are inside? I assume the ventilation is insufficient given the scale of the assault here.

I'm not sure I would call it a constitutional crisis if the planes don't turn around midflight, so long as he doesn't send more. At this point, the judiciary is still holding. If they're already there, does he have an obligation to return them outside abuses of the Alien Enemies Act?

Putin is an habitual liar, though in this particular case momentum has been against the Ukrainians in Kursk in the past week especially. Maybe not encirclement, but even if not, they are in dire straits right now.

Based federal judge literally told him to turn back the planes. So thankful we have a robust judicial system, but can't shake the feeling of being on a rickety old ship being hammered by a storm that's just being held together by a few makeshift planks and a creaking hull.

Reflecting on Angelo's 8th post here, both sides are more easily pulled in this environment by the fringes not by moderates. However, the much of the Left has arguably been less willing to create ecstatic, ideologically emotional memes(the Right will disagree, but this is protective).

I enjoy your interviews, but would also love to see you do some more on-the-ground reporting in the field if you're interested. You were always great at on-scene reporting, in my humble opinion. I hope you get the opportunity to still directly hold feet to the fire in this corrupt administration.

All of that can still be true, and at the same time Americans have disgusting consumptive/consumer habits(when it comes to the media, books, food, and otherwise). Celebrity/personality worship is the tail end of Eleanor Roosevelt's: Stupid people talk about people, average = events, smart = ideas.

Trump's previously dangled one object at a time before ignoring the results of the original controversy and claiming a new goal which would be even better. His current tact is much more flooding the zone.

Thank you for taking the time to check this. I remember the instance, I was wondering if his thinking evolved a bit on this more akin to an immediate overwhelming blitzkrieg, Caesar marching immediately on Rome too fast for Pompey to react, etc...

I love these ancient web articles. www.cnet.com/tech/service... "The company also will offer a light-usage program providing three hours of AOL per month for $4.95"

"including failing to articulate why the agencies are changing policy." This is the best part. Trump couldn't articulate a ham sandwich, so the fact that orders can be challenged on arbitrariness and capriciousness is the chef's kiss. I'm so glad fascists are often incompetent.

In a world of transactionalism, trust is not part of the equation. Carl Sagan pointed out that Jane Goodall studies chimps in the wild because like humans in jail, being caged never brings out the best in us. Removing latitude for human vulnerability and connection allows CEOs to see us as cogs.

A short and sweet couple of paragraphs of explanation is there now, but it seems about right as it relates to current events. The reader may be aided in understanding the historical context of nationalist expansionism vis a vis irredentism/revanchism - pan-Germanism revised naming conventions also.

Even in the worst throes of one's rebellious teenage years, who does shit like this unless they are genuinely brought up devoid of morals, empathy, and curiosity? We see here the roots and makeup of what it takes to become an Elon supporter; a very dark nihilism and abusiveness.

I prefer that it's targeted stuff like this more than across-the-board tariffs. If they can somehow hit either Trump voters more, stakeholders, or adjacent business interests, they can avoid hitting *some* of the people that didn't vote for madness as hard.

Still a concerning trend if so, essentially Hamilton's power of the sword co-opting the power of the purse by not faithfully executing and deciding by fiat. It's another example of reduction of pluralism, division of powers, and seeking compromise and conversation.

How are you discerning which side is making an implicit agreement for tolerance? It seems to me that in the course of natural dialogue, there is a spectrum of agreed tolerance and intellectual honesty just as there is a spectrum, if skewed, of Trump supporters' intentions.
110
VesperAegis @vesperaegis.bsky.social · 11/02/2025
While I think the spectrum is narrow, and that many if not the majority of Trump supporters are beyond reach, it's important to realize that there are in fact some that are there ready for debate. Refusing to actively look for genuine engagement will hurt more than help.

Glad to hear it. Indirect costs were not some arbitrary luxury cost, but a baked-in part of how major universities funded everything from research projects, to infrastructure, to lab maintenance, to recruitment and competitiveness of institutions. www.statnews.com/2025/02/08/n...

The NIH’s drastic cut to indirect cost rates is a critical threat to U.S. research infrastructure
The drastic reduction in indirect costs is not a path to innovation or cost savings — it’s a threat to U.S.’s position as global leader in medical research.

As Sam more or less alluded to, 9/11 truthers who would previously have had to go to a convention of conspiracy theorists may have been turned off by the face-to-face interactions they had to endure, and introspectively re-analyzed their entire world view. This is no longer necessary.
