That's a pretty long time ago. Public reception of Fallout New Vegas was pretty good in the 360/PS3 era. Outer Wilds and Avowed have been on the high-end of good, but not quite great. They're kind of like smaller Elder-Scrolls-style adventures,which I think there's a market for.

For the sake of nuance, 12 years is probably reasonable for a project where the return on investment is guaranteed. Not so much on a project where it includes rebooting the project twice and shipping half a product. My mind goes GTA6 and Halo Infinite as examples but I'm not 100% sure that's fair.

Theoretically Playground games should have a good foundation for future Fable games now that their modified Forza engine is prepped? RPGs aside, Age of Empire is pretty good at churning out content, but I don't think its been super well received? Double-fine and Compusion should be outputting---

Obsidian is one of the few Xbox actually releasing games at a sustainable cadence. Even if Avowed and Outer Worlds 2 didn't light the gaming landscape on fire, at least they are manageable in scope.
