lol the EU forced Twitter to show this to users.
Update on X's blue checkmark
Following the European Commission's Decision of 5 December 2025, we must explain the meaning of our blue checkmark and verification policies:
Premium accounts featuring the blue checkmark are not verified under identity or authenticity criteria (accounts verified based on an ID are labelled as "ID verified").
As you know, on 1 April 2023 we began winding down Twitter's legacy verification program:
Previously, to receive the blue checkmark, accounts had to be authentic, active, and deemed notable by Twitter staff (for more information on the legacy policy, please click here).
Now, following the changes implemented to democratize the platform, the blue checkmark has a different meaning and identifies accounts that have an active subscription to X Premium/X Premium+ (including services such as reply prioritization) and are complete, active, secure and non-deceptive, regardless of perceived notability.
X supports freedom of speech and does not endorse or validate the views expressed on accounts featuring checkmarks.

Effects of a ground detonation, all other things remaining the same. The fallout covers a sparsely populated area and Nukemap estimates 0 fatalities and injuries in the following 24 hours but yikes nuclearsecrecy.com/nukemap/?&kt...
Estimated fallout radiation intensity contours for a 1.2 megaton surface burst (50% fission) with a 11 km/hr wind at one hour after detonation:
Fallout contour for 1 rads per hr:
Maximum downwind fallout distance: 298 km
Maximum width: 105 km
Approximate area affected: 24,740 km²
Fallout contour for 10 rads per hr:
Maximum downwind fallout distance: 215 km
Maximum width: 71.7 km
Approximate area affected: 12,370 km²
Fallout contour for 100 rads per hr:
Maximum downwind fallout distance: 133 km
Maximum width: 38.7 km
Approximate area affected: 4,240 km²
Fallout contour for 1,000 rads per hr:
Maximum downwind fallout distance: 50.1 km
Maximum width: 5.65 km
Approximate area affected: 343 km²

Effects of the largest nuke currently in the US arsenal detonated at 5000 feet in the middle of that TFR to the east of El Paso per NUKEMAP nuclearsecrecy.com/nukemap/?&kt...
Effect distances for a 1.2 megaton airburst*:
Fireball radius: 1.14 km (4.11 km²)
Maximum size of the nuclear fireball; relevance to damage on the ground depends on the height of detonation. If it touches the ground, the amount of radioactive fallout is significantly increased. Anything inside the fireball is effectively vaporized. Minimum burst height for negligible fallout: 0.94 km.
Radiation radius (500 rem): 2.06 km (13.3 km²)
500 rem ionizing radiation dose; likely fatal, in about 1 month; 15% of survivors will eventually die of cancer as a result of exposure.
Heavy blast damage radius (20 psi): 2.76 km (23.9 km²)
At 20 psi overpressure, heavily built concrete buildings are severely damaged or demolished; fatalities approach 100%. Often used as a benchmark for heavy damage in cities. Optimal height of burst to maximize this effect is 1,930 m.
Moderate blast damage radius (5 psi): 6.33 km (126 km²)
At 5 psi overpressure, most residential buildings collapse, injuries are universal, fatalities are widespread. The chances of a fire starting in commercial and residential damage are high, and buildings so damaged are at high risk of spreading fire. Often used as a benchmark for moderate damage in cities. Optimal height of burst to maximize this effect is 3,320 m.
Thermal radiation radius (3rd degree burns): 13.5 km (574 km²)
Third degree burns extend throughout the layers of skin, and are often painless because they destroy the pain nerves. They can cause severe scarring or disablement, and can require amputation. 100% probability for 3rd degree burns at this yield is 11.4 cal/cm².
Light blast damage radius (1 psi): 16.7 km (881 km²)
At around 1 psi overpressure, glass windows can be expected to break. This can cause many injuries in a surrounding population who comes to a window after seeing the flash of a nuclear explosion (which travels faster than the pressure wave).=

I don’t interact with LLMs much through the public chat interfaces (ChatGPT, Claude, …Grok), but I use the APIs a lot in my own tools that I’ve built or in b2b products I use. When I see what appears to be the typical user interacting with these it really does concern me. See attached.

This @figma.com error page is adorable.
A simple line drawing of a classic Macintosh computer displaying a smiling face on its screen. The illustration is composed of thick black lines forming the computer’s rectangular frame, screen, and facial features (two eyes, a nose, and a curved smile). Blue circular vector handles are visible at each vertex and along curves, indicating that the image is a vector graphic in editing mode. Above the graphic, centered text reads: “You found a bug! We’re really sorry about this. The issue has been logged, and we’ll fix it soon.”

It’s literally this meme. I don’t even need to add the text.
The two-panel “Why would they do this?” meme using the screens from the “who killed Hannibal” skit on The Eric Andre show. Meme text omitted because this shit is obvious to everyone who isn’t suffering from long-term spray tan poisoning.
