Jane Goodall, one of the world's most renowned conservationists, first found fame in the early 1960s for her paradigm-busting work as a primatologist. In 2021, David Marchese interviewed her about making the world place and the usefulness of hope in the face of fear and anger. nyti.ms/3KvuvOn

The Northern Cardinal is always the first guest at my feeder in the morning and the last to leave at night. Either they’re early risers, night owls, or just really committed to their snacks! 🐦

Currently reading Straight from the Horse’s Mouth by Meryem Alaoui with Adabiyat. I’m loving this bold, funny, and honest novel. Grateful to see Moroccan voices in our book club picks.
A close-up of the novel Straight from the Horse’s Mouth by Meryem Alaoui, propped upright next to a shiny brass horse statue on a bookshelf filled with vintage hardcover books. The cover features a headless woman in a red kaftan against a bright blue background. It’s giving “subtle theme commitment.”A middle-aged man sits in a modern, cozy reading nook, focused on a book titled Straight from the Horse’s Mouth. The book has a bright blue cover featuring an illustrated woman in a red kaftan. Behind him is a striking wall art installation made of thick bundles of real horsehair, wrapped in colorful thread and hanging vertically like oversized tassels. To the right, built-in bookshelves glow with warm lighting, filled with blue-toned books and small decorative objects.Houcine stands smiling in a bright green polo shirt and sunglasses, holding the book Straight from the Horse’s Mouth in front of a pasture fence — where three very real Texas horses have gathered around the book. One of them is suspiciously close to actually mouthing the cover. It’s not a metaphor anymore.

Ending the year with a philosophical act: feeding squirrels and a peacock pecans and walnuts. A simple reminder that sharing what we have can be both thoughtful and whimsical. Tomorrow is a new chapter—let’s write it with curiosity, kindness, and maybe a few nuts along the way. 📚🐿️🦚

The Coin introduces us2 a protagonist as unhinged as the world she inhabits—a glamorous, filthy blend of obsession, grief, and political critique. With sharp wit, she confronts the monsters of our era, from Netanyahu to Trump, unraveling the truth behind power, beauty, and humanity's contradictions.
