NEW: The Trump-Vance administration’s ICE agents handcuffed a Catholic nun as she walked to Sunday Mass in South Texas, held her for hours, and released her only after members of Congress from both parties intervened. It came just weeks after Trump mounted a sustained attack on Pope Leo XIV.

ICE Detains A Texas Nun Walking to Mass

Sister Letty was walking to Sunday Mass at Our Lady of Sorrows when federal agents took her. Nearly nine in ten American dioceses depend on foreign-born clergy like her.

Everyone has seen this by now, but this guy is so out of it that he forgets that Christianity’s beginning was one of bloodshed for their beliefs. If Pope Leo is truly committed to the teachings of Jesus, there’s nothing DJT can say or do on this earth to get him to stop from speaking out. 🧵

UPDATE: Letters from Leo can now independently confirm that the meeting took place — and that the Vatican was so alarmed by the Pentagon’s tactics that Leo shelved plans to visit America. Some officials saw their reference to an Avignon papacy as a threat to use military force against the Holy See.

The Pentagon Threatened Pope Leo XIV’s Ambassador With the Avignon Papacy

The Free Press has documented a closed-door Pentagon meeting in which a senior Trump official lectured Pope Leo XIV’s ambassador on American military supremacy.

I had this conversation just a few days ago. Reading this on the heels of having just hung up a painting we commissioned above our piano earlier this week. It’s likely the arts are one of the safest realms from being replaced by technological advances. Humans desire human connection.

This is such a naive take. You really think we’re making art to keep institutions alive, feed people’s habits, or tow certain lines? Most of us went into the arts expecting to be kinda poor and unknown, but we really believe in what we do.

heartbroken to learn the pope sympathizes with the poor. how can i continue to believe in god

The Pope tweets: "The poor are not there by chance or by blind and cruel fate. Nor, for most of them, is poverty a choice. Yet, there are those who still presume to make this claim, thus revealing their own blindness and cruelty. #DilexiTe"

Someone replies: "I was so hopeful I could be a Catholic again after the disaster that Francis was, guess we just get Francis 2.0 now and I am heartbroken. How do I stay a Catholic now...I don't want to lose faith but I am. You belong to someone else, not God."
