For context: The National Science Foundation founds a lot of basic research in the US. This new policy asking program officers to "review" grants based on a list of keywords containing words lie "biased" or "female" does not "just" attack DEI but all serious science. In the end it hurts everyone.

Today I was reminded of this quilt I made a while ago for an exhibition of our guild #dcmqg about "patriotism". It reads "Ich bin froh, nicht stolz, Deutsche zu sein" (I am glad, not proud, to be German). Things I didn't do anything for but that benefit me are a privilege not a source of pride.

I love the texture of these #placemats when they get hit by the low winter sun! This project started in a "scrap play" workshop with Sherri Lynn Wood last January. We sewed "scrap jelly rolls", which I then sandwiched between larger, sandy-colored scraps to let the colors pop. #quiltsky #scrapplay
