There's that, and there's also the fact that . . . pain isn't an emotion. Feeling sad, hurt, upset, annoyed, misunderstood, invalidated, angry, those are all emotions, but pain is not one of those. I guess you could say "I feel pained," but good luck parsing exactly what that means.
