Venkaris @venkaris.com · 27/09/2026That's so true, the less actions you need to do in order to get to work, the better 000
Venkaris @venkaris.com · 27/09/2026I agree, but watching videos is exactly the thing that will make you want to draw less, at least in my experience. Videos are usually more fun than drawing, so it's just going to feel much more boring in comparison 120
Venkaris @venkaris.com · 27/09/2026You are not undisciplined. Drawing IS more boring than doomscrolling. Forcing yourself to draw WILL make you hate it! Instead manipulate the environment around you so that your sketchbook is the most fun thing is the room. Then you will either die from boredom or pick it up. 67715
Venkaris @venkaris.com · 22/07/2026Ohh that looks pretty cool, I like the more cyberpunk-ish letter styles for graffiti specifically though 010
Venkaris @venkaris.com · 20/07/2026Oh yes I have that scheduled already, although it's not really tips, more of a demonstration 020
Venkaris @venkaris.com · 19/07/2026When putting a sphere in a box it might look like it fits perfectly but actually it's too big 1275
Venkaris @venkaris.com · 17/07/2026When fitting a circle into a square, check this: 1. The circle touches the midpoint of each side 2. The minor axis crosses right through the center 0212
Venkaris @venkaris.com · 16/07/2026The best way to place a cylinder in perspective is to draw a box first and carve it out of it 0294
Venkaris @venkaris.com · 14/07/2026The 3 ellipse and cylinder mistakes I see (and do) most often 0151
Venkaris @venkaris.com · 13/07/2026The minor axis of an ellipse divides it in half and also is the center line of any cylinder. Use it as a guide 0140
Venkaris @venkaris.com · 12/07/2026From the front and side a cylinder looks flat, I always draw it slightly tilted so the figure feels 3d 0265
Venkaris @venkaris.com · 11/07/2026Boxes follow the same laws as cubes but come in different sizes 0213
Venkaris @venkaris.com · 09/07/2026This is how I check if a cube is correct, make sure all the lines intersect at a point 1252
Venkaris @venkaris.com · 02/05/2026Thanks! Yeah it's like doing abstract art with just shapes except the shapes mean something 200

Venkaris @venkaris.com · 20/03/2026It's the handle where the leg bone connects, I don't think it's actually called a handle 111
Venkaris @venkaris.com · 14/03/2026"I'll draw more once I have more time" is a lie. I tracked every drawing session for a year. A month with daily classes: 58h My emptiest month: 59h A lack of free time isn't your problem, a lack of a good project is. 1203

Venkaris @venkaris.com · 11/03/2026As long as after tracing it you actually start from scratch and use it as a guide it should be fine yeah! Tracing can give you the confidence, but you always have to actually try copying it by yourself, so without drawing over it. That's how you actually improve! 020
Venkaris @venkaris.com · 10/03/2026If you play VRChat you literally have unlimited pose reference from any angle. 1111
Venkaris @venkaris.com · 09/03/2026That's great! If you don't commit to doing a long session right away, it's easier to start 010
Venkaris @venkaris.com · 08/03/2026How I made my drawing habit addictive: 1. Find a habit you already can't skip, even a bad one. 2. Ask yourself why you can't skip it. 3. Do the same thing in your drawing routine. I track every gym session to watch numbers go up, so I started doing the same for drawing hours. 1133
Venkaris @venkaris.com · 07/03/2026Thanks! Also why do you need to blend them, I think they can co-exist if the base of the tail is small enough 110
Venkaris @venkaris.com · 06/03/2026Giving advice without showing doesn’t work. I started on here by posting advice that I’ve heard others say. No one cared. Then I started posting studies, showing myself applying the advice. Now they care. If you want to teach something, SHOW it. 1194
