I cannot BELIEVE this betrayal of trust

A dialogue screen between my character and Vox Master Vigdis after confronting them about making a confession about secretly keeping lop-eared kleppas (rabbits I'm assuming?) on the ship

My character: "The important question is why."

Vox Master Vigdis: "I was fault checking the vox devices in the ship's reliquary. Message recording works but deletion does not. You have helped me establish that. Thank you."

My character: "Wait, why lop-eared kleppas specifically?"

Vox Master Vigdis: "At the time, I have nothing to repent of, so I dictated an except from an old letter to my mother. As you heard, it contained arguments in favour of keeping lop-eared kleppas on the ship. I can still recite it from memory."

My character: "Vigdis, I want a pair of lop-eared kleppas aboard the ship!"

Vigdis: "I am going to quote my mother's response: that is impossible. You see, the species went extinct several centuries ago." Vigdis's voice grows ever so slightly warmer. "I am very sorry, Lord Captain. There aren't any kleppas to be had."
