I saw this as a kid and loved it. When I looked it up a while back and saw it described as a "violent, adult-oriented film" I was like that doesn't sound right, so after some more digging I found out that the 1989 Finnish VHS I'd seen was heavily censored and was missing a cool 18 minutes

Last year's version of PC Gamer's top 100 PC games has 4 games from before 2000: Doom, Thief, Planescape: Torment and Alpha Centauri (ie. 1 game from before 1998). The 2024 edition only had the first three (and also had Persona 5 Royal at #5 which was very funny, it has now fallen to #49)

This is what I landed on too. I'd prefer TA over AT but that makes L+A hard and would force me to use the macro, and I really hate how every new game wants you to use 8 buttons At least Tokon seems to treat L+M and dash button equally, unlike 2XKO where L+M sucks ass bc it doesn't buffer the dash

Looks like that's only in the US, the PAL version had a different publisher and the box just says "The Complete Deathsmiles Experience. L'expérience Deatshmiles ultime." Different front cover as well, the same as the manual in both versions

My favorite is Mushihimesama Futari, the first JP 360 game I ever bought Biggest childhood favorite that I haven't played since but remember fondly is the C64 port of Saint Dragon For worst I remember thinking Aquanaut (1988) for the C64 was unreasonably difficult and not that good in any way

I really like Parasite Eve II but I also played it first because the original has never been released in Europe In the 90s we didn't get shit when it comes to jrpgs, then in the early 2000s it got better but we'd randomly only get sequels (this, Saga Frontier 2 but not 1, Xenosaga 2 but not 1 or 3)

In Tales of Xillia cities have background noises to make them feel bigger and livelier, including vendors hawking their wares. For some reason the voiceline of a meat vendor going "MUTTON, FRESH MUTTON!" is much louder than anything else, so it's always the first thing you hear anywhere you go

The NES was very popular in the Nordics thanks to the Swedish company Bergsala, who was and still is the official distributor of all things Nintendo. Like yeah it didn’t completely dominate the market like the C64 had, but when I started school in 91 in Finland practically everyone had an NES
