The new US Animal Welfare Act stopped requiring that new food and pharma products be tested on animals. But their reasoning has little to do with animal welfare. Animal testing is expensive and computer models have gotten more reliable for most experiments. So it was about saving money, not animals.

Bison, like wolves and beavers, radically shape the environment around them. Their grazing promotes plant regrowth and diversification, while the trampling of their hooves helps work seeds into the soil and breaks up hard crusts, improving water infiltration during rare desert rains.

Sorry to give you even more dire environmental news, but you probably should be aware of this. On the flip side, if we could get enough people to stop eating animals, it would help things out a lot.

It's easy for activists to get discouraged. With all the challenges and setbacks we face, it sometimes makes us wonder if it's worth all the hard work and heartbreak. But if we look back at everything we have accomplished so far, we can see that we really ARE making a positive difference.

It's pretty important to our kidneys working well, so we don't get infections or other diseases in our kidneys, our bladders or our urinary tracts. Like the rest of our body, our kidneys work best when fed a healthy diet of plants, and they can get stressed by diets heavy in meat and animal products

If you balance the (vastly overstated) benefits of eating lots of protein against the vast damage that meat and dairy production causes to our planet, tens of billions of animals and our own physical health, there really are no good reasons for eating animals at all.

When you're feeling down, one of the surest ways to pick up your spirits is to go to a park or natural area, listen to the birds singing and breathe in all the nature around you. You can get some of the same effect by downloading birdsong and listening to it on your computer or phone.

Animal agriculture emits more climate damaging greenhouse gases that all the cars, trucks, buses, trains, aircraft and ships combined. If you really care about the climate crisis, the most effective positive thing you can do is take animals off your plate.

Foie gras is one of those things that only exist to exert cruelty. Geese & ducks have funnels forced down their throats that are filled with fatty foods in order to unnaturally and painfully engorge their livers which are then cut out to provide a so-called delicacy for mostly really wealthy people.
