With grimdark vibes and campy antics, Desolate Dawn – the first book in the Droughtbringer series - is a modern twist on the sword and sorcery genre perfect for fans of Conan, the Witcher, Xena, and a good dungeon crawl with a side of 80’s fantasy nostalgia. Get your copy: buff.ly/4jHlejm 💙📚⚔️

KNOW YOUR TROPE: Apocalypse Maiden refers to any character fated to trigger the end of the world. Often, they're an "Innocent" or close to the Hero, forcing them to choose between killing them for the greater good, or risking it all to protect them. 📚💙✍️

Image: Blank notebook on a white background splashed with blue. Sketch of a clock face. Two headshots, Dark Phoenix & Dawn. Text: Know Your Trope: Apocalypse Maiden. Any character who, one way or another, is fated to somehow trigger the end of the world - usually at great moral or emotional cost to the protagonist.

IMAGE: Notebook on a white background splashed with blue. Sketch of a scroll. TEXT: EXAMPLES - Vanya/Victor (The Umbrella Academy); Jean Grey/Phoenix Force (X-Men); Dawn (Buffy the Vampire Slayer). AUTHOR'S NOTE: The original idea for Droughtbringer started with a simple question: What if the chosen one failed to stop the apocalypse maiden from ending the world?
