Lastly, and I know I'm nitpicking, but it is kind of important: I haven't said yet whether this was damage as a result of an attack. I frankly do not have enough info at this time to say why the horizontal stabilizer is missing or where it went. Nowhere was that added to the note.

It gets worse. The note describes the correction is based on missing characteristics of an RE-3A (hog nose and cheek fairings). Not that you can see the boom under the tail (like I did) when I made the assessment.

It is a fair question. I will say that they have entire functions of their defense apparatus whose job it is to figure this stuff out on the daily (other otherwise be sent to the front!) and to a much more sophisticated degree.

Decoys, probes and misdirection aside, Kapotnya Refinery was ALWAYS the main target. The objective overwhelmed and penetrated every "ring" of Moscow air defense in this attack. The drone paths indicate as little as a third of all Moscow AD would have been faced, of which many likely ran out of ammo.

AD map of Moscow put together by RFE/RL's Mark Krutov with the help of many geolocators since the war started (myself included).

The red star is the location of Kapotnya Refinery, and the two grey lines represent the outside edges of the funnel of drone attacks.
