Dang, looks like the NWS in Buffalo has caved on the Lake America thing. They were referring to it as “our easternmost Great Lake” initially
Marine forecast referring to Lake America instead of Ontario a couple of times

Pages A2-A3 in just today's D&C, three articles about injuries and deaths due to car crashes in the local area. One a bicyclist, the others elderly people and children. Stories like this day after day. But its ebikes on sidewalks that are the emergency.

The cope is enormous in the latest Lonsberry column lolol
It’s OK to believe that the good guys are the good guys, that the men and women of law enforcement are heroes who risk their lives every day to protect our families and our freedoms, to make sure that our civilization remains civil and our homes secure.

It’s OK to detest the hateful voices who vilify the police, who call them racists and enforcers of a fantasized structural bigotry, people who seek to destroy our country by loosing its worst elements through the destruction of law and enforcement.

It’s OK to support the federal officers charged with implementing the laws passed by Congress, including immigration laws, and to see as traitors and insurrectionists the political opportunists who attack and vilify them.

It’s OK to revere those who wear or have worn the uniform of our country, whether they are teen-aged recruits just beginning service or aged grandmothers and grandfathers, looking back decades.

It’s OK to believe that God delivered the children of Israel from bondage in Egypt.

It’s OK to believe that God so loved the world that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.

It’s OK to vote Republican.

And if you don’t, one day those other things won’t be OK anymore.IT'S OK TO BE AN AMERICAN

It’s OK to like Thanksgiving. And Columbus Day, and the Fourth of July.

And to say, “Merry Christmas.”

It’s OK to revere Washington and Jefferson and the heroic men and women who settled and built this country.

It’s OK to believe that God raised up the United States of America as an exceptional nation charged with lifting the torch of liberty as an example and inspiration for all the world.

It’s OK to pledge allegiance to the flag, and to the Republic for which it stands, and to rise to your feet and put your hand over your heart out of respect for the anthem that represents us all.

It’s OK to believe that this country is the greatest country ever to grace the face of the earth, and that its mission in international affairs is noble and good.

Acktually, there is no difference between a king and a democratically elected representative government
Bob Lonsberry FB post saying "Well said" to the following repost by Aaron Christopher "On this Independence, something to think about, 250 years ago we told a king to pound salt over a tax on a beverage among other things. Today we pay taxes on money we make, money we spend, money we invest and the homes and real property we own. We also pay taxes on heating our houses, traveling on roads and some foods. That’s just taxes. New laws are written every year that limit other rights protected by the Bill of rights. Should we really be celebrating our independence or should we be reclaiming it?"

I dunno about that truthout.org/articles/jef...
“The socialists had a big win,” Gottheimer said. “The question is, are we going to let them take over the party? Or are we going to stand up and fight back?”

Gottheimer added, “If you’re a socialist, you’re not a Democrat.”Jeffries seemed to imply that Mamdani’s endorsements could be detrimental to the Democratic Party overall. He also said it would be Mamdani’s responsibility, not the candidates themselves, to make him and other party members feel at ease

We are grateful for the additional support provided by law enforcement agencies from across the country. FACT:

The District is NOT purchasing electric school buses through this budget. Proposition 1 on the ballot May 19 authorizes the District to spend money from two existing “Bus Reserve” funds to purchase DIESEL school buses. Gonna use this quote from the article in my new book "The Future of Bullshitters in an Age of Automated Bullshit"
In his statement, Mr. Rosenbaum said that if the episode “serves as a warning about the risks of A.I.-assisted research and verification, that is why I wrote the book.”

“These A.I. errors do not, in fact, diminish the larger questions that the book raises about truth, trust and A.I. and its impact on society, democracy and editorial,” he added.

The latest Yale Climate Opinion Survey is out, once again reporting that people in Monroe County strongly support climate action, even as they know it won't benefit them personally. And they hardly ever hear about it, but would support politicians who advocate climate action.

We've known that we need to get off gas since I was riding my bike here. But we've done nothing to help people do that. So now we watch this depressing, predictable spectacle -- the "emergency" of the numbers on the gas station sign wiping out any action toward the emergency that faces our planet

...No accommodation for bikes, sidewalks just inches from fast moving traffic, sad and underused bus stops. A mile and a half north of here is where the Empire State/Erie Canal Trail crosses this road, depositing bikers after they've hugged a narrow shoulder on 45mph Tonawanda Creek Rd.

But this corner, which hasn't changed in the decades since I was a teen, is a perfect encapsulation of how little we've done in my lifetime to make ourselves less dependent on gas. Everything about this place screams "cars rule": multiple lanes of 40 mph traffic, the special right turn lane..

The main focus of the press conference was essentially these numbers. Gasoline prices. They have risen rapidly and the press dependably fans the outrage. Hochul knew this was a liability, so she pointed the finger at federal policy. But she also said she'd help out by stalling climate action.

Governor Hochul's Monday press conference in Tonawanda was in a location I know well. I grew up about 3 miles away from this gas station, and nearby Ellicott Creek Park was a common bike destination. Hochul used this pressor, in part, to reiterate her argument that we must stall climate action.

Someone explain to me how identifying pronouns limits "the ability for students to see the world in complex ways"
welcomed how the Trump administration targeted diversity, equity and inclusion initiatives and the academic cultures they fostered. Jessica Trisko Darden, an associate professor of political science at Virginia Commonwealth University, said she saw fewer students and faculty members announcing their personal pronouns or identity groups during discussions.

“I think that was really limiting for discourse, but also for the ability for students to see the world in complex ways,” said Dr. Trisko Darden, who said she had felt “constrained” during
