This week, we've seen that calling yourself "grassroots" is very different from spending the time to actually be a grassroots organisation. And putting in the time and work is tricky when we're in a world of tight timelines, but that's what makes you, uhm, better than the other orgs.

Never thought I’d be making a post about potholes, but…Fast fashion waste is being used to fix potholes. Yep, a silver lining in the fast fashion world: the UK’s Maidstone Borough Council uses recycled clothes to make low-carbon material to fix potholes. Here’s to local council action.

Major fashion runways don’t have enough fat bodies, disabled bodies, brown and black bodies. Instead of prioritising that this year’s London Fashion Week featured a robot, following last year’s Paris Fashion week.

Another terrifying headline and now what? The Labor government approves another gas project? Another coal mine? Another gas project? The only way we can get back to 1.5 degrees is through immediate emissions cuts and removing carbon from the atmosphere - Australia has the resources to do this.

Owner of fast fashion brand Zara opened Lefties - “Zara’s cheaper little sister”. Lefties is operated by robots, and its clothes are cheaper than Shein, an ultra fast fashion brand This is another brand producing cheap clothes that end up in landfills in the Global South.

Another great reason for the Labor government to sanction Israel and stop all trade. Surely Penny Wong feels “outrage” about this?

In just a few days, there have been several allegations of men sexually assaulting women. The solution isn’t just the Labor government throwing temporary bits of money, but Labor holding social media companies that promote misogynist content accountable.

So Meta is happy to take more of our data to show us “relevant” content. But they won’t stop paying ragebait creators and promoting racist and misogynistic content. I want to be able to “have a say” in the content I see by opting out of the dangerous rabbit holes of Meta’s algorithm.

No one’s doing more than Gwyneth Paltrow. First, it was promoting luxury real estate in Israel while Israel is actively committing genocide in Gaza. And now it’s apparently throwing a private, off the record party honouring OpenAI CEO Sam Altman. Oh, but don’t worry, she’s an “independent”.

Our wages aren't even meet the rising cost of living. Meanwhile: - In the first half of 2026, Rio Tinto saw a 47% profit increase to ~$10 BILLION - BHP saw a 9% annual growth in profit to ~$14 BILLION The Labor government must tax these dirty billion dollar companies so they pay their fair share.

The media controls whether governments take action on climate change. Because how come when talking about the devestating fires: - almost two thirds of articles in the UK made NO mention of climate change, and - Less than 20% of Canadian news stories on the fires mentioned climate change.

Dr Jason Arday’s death is another example of how well funded conservative media and academic institutions continue to discriminate and promote white supremacy. It doesn't matter how many "POC Scholarships" you have when you actively work against minority groups.

A reminder that ultra-fast fashion brands SHEIN and Temu are hurting Australian designers and jobs, with dozens of local Aussie brands and hundreds of physical stores shutting down. We need government action if we want to see sustainable, local fashion grow and stop the rise of fast-fashion slop.

Instead of increasing investment in public health, NSW Premier Chris Minns has told people to avoid going to the emergency room unless it’s “life-threatening”. Experts say the stress on the health care system was and is expected, so is the long term strategy to tell people to avoid the ED?

And that’s on people power. India’s young people have really shown the world that protest does work - I mean if it didn’t why would they even bother with all the anti-protest laws in Australia. Overturning a fascist government takes time and this is a huge step forward.

Two weeks ago Albanese shook Modi’s hand with pride - a known fascist. Now thousands in India are protesting against the Modi government, asking for the bare minimum - a voice. This is a result of a decade of censorship and horrifying treatment of marginalised groups.

18-24 year old men made up the majority of complaints about facing sexual extortion. This is proof the social media ban won’t work. A blanket ban isn’t the solution to anything. The government must hold big tech accountable to moderate content, and educate users, not just take them off the app.

Huge win for gas companies! While Aussies deal with cost of living pressures, these BILLION DOLLAR companies are pocketing an extra $27 BILLION due to the shortfall caused by Trump’s war in Iran. It’s time for a tax on gas exports.

Coal, oil and gas companies spend MILLIONS on programs for children, from Nippy’s junior life-saving to climate education programs. But they’re not doing this to create a better future for children. The fossil fuels they produce pollute the very air and water these kids swim in.

Yesterday’s NSW budget release shows us that we do not need to rely on dirty coal mining to fund health and education, even though these billion dollar companies love to claim they do. Over a decade, these billion-dollar companies make up an average of only 2.4% of total government revenue.

In 2025-26, fossil fuel companies received $16.3 BILLION in subsidies from Australian governments. Coal companies may now get an EXTRA $6.2 billion in taxpayer refunds if the Albanese government approves half the mine developments up for approval. We need to incentivise renewables, not dirty coal.

Elon gave Trump a chainsaw to “cut the red tape”. But Gina Rinehart thinks Australia needs more, gifting Hanson a bulldozer. What we need is community action to stop the rise of this absurdity. From work places to book clubs to festivals - this is community and each conversation matter.

Pauline Hanson loves to talk about jobs for Australians while outsourcing her own campaign to workers overseas for cheap labour. And a reminder that Hanson is besties with a BILLIONAIRE, has a private plane and raised over $4 million in just ~2 weeks. This is Hanson’s excuse:

In the last week we've seen Nine's Newspaper support bigotry + misinformation. The Daily Tele headlined One Nation’s "FIRE THE LIAR". The AFR had an election graphic with it invented parties but left out the Labor party because the SA Electoral Commission used AI in its data collection.

Data centres are just like fossil fuels. The government and corporations will tell us about how many jobs and much $$ they’ll generate. They’ll promise to consult communities and impacts. And then they’ll leave us with more expensive energy, barely any jobs all while damage Indigenous land.

ICYMI, the Minns’ government: - is fast tracking data centres without proper community consultation, - reversed their DECADE long ban on gas exploration. All of this is in the name of innovation and job growth, but it's actually dirty projects without community involvement or promised benefits.
