Had a wonderful morning in the studio today working on these two mermaid tails for a client. 💜

I just had one of those magical moments where when you've done something enough times you develop an instinct for when something is about to go wrong. Sure enough, I checked and I was about to sew the dorsal fin into the seam. A little alarm went off in my head like, "HEY YOU check the seam!!"

After some good client feedback I have decided to stop offering OdiCoat as an option on my tails. Clients who have multiples of my creations have reported that without it, the tails hold up well with proper care and due to some slight discolouring with time, I think this is best.

YES! YouTube is allowing me to share links on my channel now! Such a little win but it means so much! 💜

People still leave comments on my Courtney Mermaid YouTube channel and it seems like no matter how many posts I make I can't get through to the people who still want to see my content. I'm not on Courtney Mermaid anymore, I'm now here: www.youtube.com/@VancouverMe...

I’m thinking about removing my ebooks and digital templates entirely. I haven’t added to the set in ages and they contain all my secrets and I think it’s time to put that information back in the vault.

If I could give past me one critical piece of advice it would be to take better product photos. Like make sure the pictures you are taking are going to fit with the resolution you plan on using.

These two tails are several years apart but were made for the same client (and dear friend). I enjoy looking back on these fond memories. This tail was such a unique concept at the time and it still is. 💜 #mermaidtail

Let me explain why I don't share my artwork and why it's behind a pay-wall. It's because my mermaid tail designs get ripped off more often than I would like and it really hurts me every time. So all my concepts and designs are exclusive to Patreon. Only Procreate low-res video get shared to YouTube.

This is the current custom order I have in production and I have just moved on to the polish phase. The image I shared on here is the concept that was approved by the client and I'm so pleased with how it turned out.

Spent the day working on custom mermaid tail orders and I can't believe how much I'm loving the idea my upcoming client has for their tail. I'm having way too much fun exploring this concept!

I took some times recently to resize the fluke of this design to work with the Fish Fin monofin. Though it has changed the vibe a bit it still works in my opinion and I love how wild and colourful this design is!

Catching up on emails this morning and as a quick reminder, for those of you finding me through Bluesky, I do not consent to making tails for those under the age of 18 for safety reasons. Parents, I'm very appreciative for the consideration, but please do not order tails for your children from me.

I had made a beautiful list of tasks I needed to complete before moving forward with tails again and as it turns out, past me has already done all those tasks and current me completely forgot. So that was a nice surprise! 😅

Spending a good chunk of my day getting things organized in my shop and progress is being made. A few things are out of date and a few things are still missing, but bit by bit it's coming back together. 🥰

One of Shopify's biggest failings for me is that I can't have a listing with multiple options that shares the same amount of stock. So if I want to have 5 slots open for whatever tail(s) clients would like, I have to have 5 available for each design which is way more than 5 slots. 🤦‍♀️

There are a lot of factors that play into the pricing of my mermaid tails including my printing/fabric costs, sewing supplies/maintenance, the hours of work it takes for me to resize/repaint/sew, etc. I don't randomly pick numbers, I sit down and do the math.

030

Vancouver Mermaid @vancouvermermaid.bsky.social · 02/02/2026

Some of the "similar accounts" shown along side my new page on Bluesky are not even related in the slightest. I hope as I continue to post that that corrects itself.
