10 years ago I made those higher pixel resolution interpretations of GBA Fire Emblem sprites. Time is flying to fast... But at least I've been working on a fair amount of tactical games since, like Songs of Conquest and Symphony of War. Also Vampire Tactics will be revealed soon, around Halloween...

I am trying to make @vampiretacticsgame.bsky.social the most beautiful pixel art game I can. The moonlight floods into the halls of the castle, the raindrops hit the window, dripple down and you can even see their reflections in the marble. All works correctly with parallax. I love pixel Shaders <3

I just had a lot of fun programming a pixelart caustics reflection effect shader. This was far more complex than I anticipated, but in the end came out just as I hoped. Maybe I will use it in Vampire Tactics. It's so fresh when you have characters standing next to water and it shows on them.

Yesterday evening I programmed a proper lightning effect. Imagine it's raining, thundering and then the scene just lights up for a split second. This is purely programmatically handled, but is at the intersection of art & code. The magic always happens when 2 different disciplines come together.

Yes, it's intentional :) We wanted to grant the final form of this unit a bit more armour. And even though it doesn't feel as nimble as the second one, it's still a medium weight armour unit. Tanks will feel even heavier in Vampire Tactics.
