#OldMapWednesday In my recent vacation to Netherlands I learned that Manhattan used to be a Dutch colony known by the name of New Amsterdam 🤯(to no surprise for americans, I imagine). This is the earliest map, called the "The Castello Plan", by Jacques Cortelyou ~1660.

The only mistake you could make when drawing your own fantasy maps is never starting. This is my first digital hand drawn map, and a traditional remake I did 2 years later. Don't stop and keep drawing, the ONLY way is forward but you gotta walk the walk every day.

I'm not trying to bring shade to using stamp apps to create your maps. But I encourage you to start at least sketching your maps with pencil on a sheet of paper: 🔹Creative juices start flowing, 🔹Worldbuilding gets richer 🔹Stories start to unfold in your mind, begging to be put on the sheet!
