Sure, Bond movies were a feminist nightmare, but I took my childhood role models where I could get them. Jane Seymour was the most beautiful woman I’d ever seen and Solitaire had *powers*. #stainedglass

For some low-stakes fun I made this model kit. It’s supposed to have a working light but I neglected to test it before completion 😅

We went to this 1600s church for the stained glass but the tombstone floor got me!

My one remaining sewing machine croaked during the journey across the pond, but tomorrow I’m getting a new (to me) one. Not new, never new! But top of the line in 1985 or so. Despite its age it’s still more than I’ve ever spent on a sewing machine. #bernina

Wanted to see some early Matthew Rhys so this is happening.

Doing research for a project and I found this: digital.library.cornell.edu/collections/... Now I'm stuck in a nostalgia hole! I didn't know Aaron Cometbus gave a collection to Cornell. #bayarea #cometbus #sanfrancisco #punk

I didn’t realize you could upload long-ass videos here. Update on how it’s been moving to the Netherlands. Sorry about the audio, no captions. I know how lucky I am to be able to do this!!

In the Netherlands there is stained glass everywhere you look. #stainedglass

A minute after this picture was taken it occurred to me that living in Europe now makes up for having my 50th in lockdown. Not really related, but that’s my brain. Hope this lasts!

This design got knocked off again. It’s *starting* to become less flattering. #stainedglass

A Portland friend was in town today so we we went to downtown Den Haag and hung out with them. Successful tram rides, icy wind, lots of stores and people out. We hung out at the library for a while because they had a cafe and it was a lovely 3rd space. Tired but no complaints.

Randall pointing at the Den Haag sign, indicating war crime tribunals coming soon! 🤞

One of many public sculptures we saw, but this one was the spookiest.

Wonderful Amsterdam School architecture (I think)

Today our landlords and neighbors hooked us up with free bikes! The neighbor is an older man who was a nuke power engineer in Germany until chernobyl happened. Our landlords are a project manager for the government and a camera operator for tv. They live downstairs from us.

First proper morning in the Netherlands at a café in Schiphol station. I know I’m an American try-hard but a man just exchanged a smile with me and I’m thrilled! They don’t really do that here. Also there is a lovely loud British girl brazenly doing her makeup at the communal table.
