To clarify something: I do still enjoy OFMD as a show. I do not consider myself part of the fandom anymore, though. No more art from me, fics from me, me buying things relating to it, etc. The bad outweighed the good in the end for me. I enjoy the show and characters. But not the fandom.

They have 3 jousts a day. 5 lances per knight, so 10 lances each joust. 30 lances a day. 60 lances each weekend. It’s $20 just do the wood of the lance. $1,200 per weekend just on wood that’s going to be broken. The ren fest here runs for 16 days total. $19,200 just on wood for the season here.

food, supplies, car repair bills come up, trailers for gear in some cases, etc. It’s not cheap. I was talking to Zack earlier about the cost of lances. Not the horse care, armor, tack, maintenance of items, etc. Literally just the wooden part of the lance, the part that shatters when hitting.

each other once snow hits due to it. But, for now, we’re spending time together when we can, slowly getting to know each other and see where it goes in the future. Just friends or more. Though we’ve had some nice cuddle time, hand holding, snuggling, etc. I really like being with him so far.

So… I won’t be posting a picture of him, but there’s someone recently in my life who I’ve been chatting with. He’s not out to some people in his life, hence no photo or name of him, to be safe. We met at the Ren Fest. We’ve had a couple dates now, but we haven’t put a label on it officially yet.

Another small update. I had my last trip of the season to the Ren Fest, thanks to someone I know helping me with a ticket. I was asked if I wanted to help with one of the horses, Gilbert. Of course I said yes. I was near the lists with some friends. As they headed back to camp from their morning

I got to attend the Ren Fest twice now. Once due to @aussiejake06.bsky.social, once with my fairy house ticket that was free. I’m going one more time on a TBD date, with a ticket I won from a performer. I got to go into the Knights Camp and learn more about it all, thanks to this amazing gentleman

Also, my fairy house? Except for the glue, which I already had? I used all recycled items and items from outside in nature. I spent nothing on it.
