Valerie @valerie.computer · 19/10/2026It's pretty fun I made it because I lost my bluetooth headphones and this is the only portable thing I own with a headphone jack lol 100 1
Valerie @valerie.computer · 17/10/2026I've done my work placement (just touch ups on a wordpress site), made a gimmick ipod-themed navidrome player and a bus tracker (Because stagecoach's app suuuucks) all within my weekly usage, using Opus 5.5 medium 100 1
Valerie @valerie.computer · 17/10/202624% weekly is kinda nuts. I haven't kept up much, is this supposed to be fable or opus tier? Cuz either way that kinda sucks lol 100 1
Valerie @valerie.computer · 11/10/2026I am aware of how to host models, mainly for shitty discord bots with abliterated models to joke around with with friends. But, my 6700XT cannot get reasonable TPS out of a lobotomised version Qwen. I can't exactly afford a 5090, and Moore's law hasn't really held true for a while now. 060 6
Valerie @valerie.computer · 11/10/2026I think the issue we're gonna have for pretty much ever is the compute required. Open weight doesn't mean accessible, if you want something Opus 5.5 level you're going to need to: 1. Wait for the chinese models to catch up 2. Invest INSANE amounts of money for hardware capable of running it. 140 4
Valerie @valerie.computer · 07/10/2026If I see you on a $900 Chromebook I'm gonna assume you're tech illiterate or it's a company/school device. If I see you on a Steam Deck (as a laptop alternative) I'm going to KNOW you're a larper. 110 1

Valerie @valerie.computer · 28/09/2026I like these! There's more going on than the 1a at least. Tbh my headphones are slowly dying so these might go on my list. 110 1
Valerie @valerie.computer · 05/09/2026I was foolishly caught Googling balls on my work computer. My boss, Cyborg Larry Page, didn't fire me. Instead, he asked the (innovative) question of: "What if we took this more literally" So, we "Googled" some balls we found in the office. The rest is history. 041 4

Valerie @valerie.computer · 28/08/2026Just keep an ungoogled fork around for updating, acting like it's unusable because you have to use something Chromium-based is beyond pointless lol. 010 1
Valerie @valerie.computer · 28/08/2026Probably so that you can use WebUSB, to update your 8bitdo controllers (Keychron also handle their management this way). This makes their tools almost entirely cross platform, and not going to be left unmaintained on Linux. Would you rather run a proprietary firmware updater "app"? 110 1
Valerie @valerie.computer · 28/08/2026Fun fact: Chromium (and many browsers based on it) work on Linux! :D 111 1

Valerie @valerie.computer · 07/08/2026Yeah the SOC on here kind of pisses me off, mainly in battery life. But the colour is cute and it can run Graphene, so good enough 000 0
